My doctor prescribed Amlopidine 5mgs three weeks ago to lower my blood pressure. Initial side effects of nausea and dizziness are greatly improved but I am now experiencing joint pains in my fingers, wrists etc. Could this be related to this drug?

Is joint pain a side effect of Amlodipine?
Hello and welcome to the forum! Amlodipine is what is known as a CCI (calcium channel inhibitor). There main side effects are those you have experienced and odema. When I was on it I suffered odema quite badly and eventually gave it up. Joint pain is not mentioned on the insert so I would speak to your GP. You might fare better with an ACE inhibitor. Finding the perfect medication is very much trial and error!
I would be very interested what your GP thinks as my friend started on Ramipril and experienced finger swelling. They suspected Arthritis but no raised inflammation markers in her bloods so she believes it is a side effect of the drug. However, this is a ACE inhibitor.... different to your med! Any insight would help her investigations.
Greetings, I’ve recently been put the same drug and recently had a severe right leg muscle cramps at night. The doctor and myself thought the statins should be reduced to 10mg as it sounded like they were not compatible only recently tried and appears to have helped. Do you take statins by the way?
Best wishes.
