Low iron
My ferritine was 59ug/dl 2 weeks ago. I have been having my periods for 5 days every 28 days for years. My doc gave me iron supplement once a day. I have been taking it for 2 weeks. I took a blood test 2 days ago and the results showed my iron is low.. 47ug/dl. How is it possible if I am taking 2 weeks

Too soon to be tested?
I have an endo appointment on Tuesday to review meds. I’ve just checked my diary and discovered that the next bloods will be drawn just over 4 weeks since my T3 dose was doubled and my T4 increased from 50 to 75mcg. I thought it was longer. I’ve asked questions recently about this describing feeling

Why would a different hospital trust want access to my records?
My normal hospital trust has an online service that tells you when appointments are changed or notes added. Things like that... Today I’ve had an email to say that the patient records service at a totally different hospital trust has been granted access to my records. I have no idea why. Has anyone else

Newly diagnosed
Hello All, I have been diagnosed with PA the one where my body attacks the intrinsic factor. This is all new to me. I am 35 and finally all of my symptoms seem to make sense. My b12 is a 309 which seems to be at the lower end yet according to my blood results isn’t low exactly. My doctor just said all

Family doctor - tested b12 with a result of <50 (undetectable?) and referred to neurologist due to neuropathy symptoms Neurologist - 2 more b12 related testing. All 3 of which normalized after 6 weekly shots. But found i had antibodies to parietal cells and intrinsic factor. Stopped injections and sent

On going investigation
Hi there I wrote a post a week ago or so my husband has suspected PMR and has had his prednisone increased to 30mg a day which is doing the trick he has no pain. His bloods came back with one inflammatory marker down but one had gone up not sure if crp or esr this was after being in initial prednisone

A conundrum
I posted on here yesterday saying I was having breathing issues (one stent fitted in March) and a slight niggling pain in the chest. Listened to advice and went to A&E. 7 hours later, ECG and lots of blood taken, resulting in the heart being fine. Good news. However, (and I promise I am a very pragmatic

Hot Springs while B12 and Iron Deficiency?
I have these deficiencies while the reason (such PA) is still assessed. In the meantime I'm being treated with b12 injections and I wonder whether bath in hot springs (such sulfur) is healthy for my symptoms or rather dangerous? I have many symptoms including muscle weakness, tightness and pain So I

Intrinsic Factor
Hi, I have vitamin B12 injections every 8 weeks but started having to reduce the length of time in between as found the 2 weeks were neurologically symptomatic. I am now finding I’m hitting the 6 week mark and I am so fatigued and symptomatic it is getting me down. I had a blood test before my last injection

Absorption of B12
Hi everyone, This is my first post and I have a some questions regarding absorption of B12. I have had Crohn's since since I was 24 and now I am 47. I have had a terminal ileostomy for 15 years and 7 years ago I had another 9 inches of my small bowel removed due to the disease. I have had B12 injections

Beginner's questions...
Hello! I am a 67 year old woman, still working as a freelancer – although increasingly reduced work load, a very sedentary job. I had a medical referral to the gym and for past year was going 3 times a week (normally!) to strengthen my muscles for my arthritic knees (which were much improved). Back

Test results questions
Hi, I just recently found this forum and have some concerns. Over the past few years I've had very bizarre and troubling symptoms and have been to doctors and specialists many times. They don't seem to believe my symptoms or sweep them under the rug as it can't be that bad. Back in 2017 I went to a

In what conditions (other than Hasimotos) are TG Antibodies raised (but TPO AB's are not)? Also results interpretation please.
In what conditions (other than Hasimoto's) are TG Antibodies raised please? I'm struggling to obtain a clear answer on this. Below are my MediChecks full thyroid panel results; the MediChecks GP stated that my results indicate Hasimoto's, although my TSH indicates my thyroid function is "fine" currently

Increasing severe spinal and chest pain
Hi all, I have had an osteoarthritis diagnosis since 1981 and was probably active for a few years prior to that following a serious car accident in 1971 where I was thrown out the back of a rolling vehicle at about 70 mph. I was knocked out for quite a while and landed on the icy ground bottom first
