I was given the wrong dosage of Prednisone....?
Haunting question....did this matter. When I woke on August 5, 2019, and was blind in one eye I called the ambulance since I live alone. After multiple doctors and exams in the emergency room and a diagnosis of GCA, an opthamologist gave the order for me to have 1000 mg of prednisone, IV, for three

Deadly ‘superbugs’ destroyed by molecular drills.
Molecular drills have gained the ability to target and destroy deadly bacteria that have evolved resistance to nearly all antibiotics. In some cases, the drills make the antibiotics effective once again. Researchers at Rice University, Texas A&M University, Biola University and Durham (U.K.) University

Bumps in the road. PMR tapering seems to have provoked GCA
Bumps in the road I first posted here around 3 weeks ago when I got the news I had PMR, well I had that news 2 or 3 years ago but didn't understand so stopped the pred after my first script ran out, after all I was cured right ? Well I know different now, what actually happened was a slow insipid relapse

Second time around
I've been a huge fan of the C25K programme, since I first completed it about five years ago at the age of 52. I followed it up with lots of Park Runs and over a year I managed a PB of about 26mins. Which I was gobsmacked about (in a good way)! And kept running for the next few years. Then about two

Cloudy blind vision
Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has experienced this: In the summer I got up in the night for my usual trip to the loo and I had to stop walking as I completely lost my vision. I couldn't see anything and it was like I was in a thick cloud. I stood blinking my eyes for a few minutes and then my vision

Scleroderma & Sacral Nerve Stimulation Trial for bowel problems
Has any one undergone a 2 week trial of Sacral Nerve Stimulation? Wondered how it went, and if successful did it work straight away or was it slow to show results over the two weeks. My bowel hasn't worked for three and a half years, constipation & soiling. Deep joy. Thank you.

Enlarged Lymph node
I had a total thyroidectomy over a year ago because of hashimoto disease. For some months now I have noticed a swelling on the right side of my neck right next to my saliva gland. I had a doctors visit just a few days ago and mention it to NP. She checked it out and said that it felt like my saliva

GCA concern
Was diagnosed with PMR in April - started on 15 mg Prednisolone and slowly tapered till I got to 11mg and PMR symptoms started to creep back in so back to 12 mg which definately helped. I had had problems with blurry vision (difficulty focusing) even before PMR diagnosis and have had 3 different prescriptions

Dry eye drops/gel
Hi guys and fount of all wisdom, I am looking for advice on dry eye drops. I was prescribed Hydromoor eye drops but I now need something stronger. My GP prescribed preservative-free (I am allergic to preservatives) Viscotears single dose use eye drops. Early days but these seem to be helping, however

Hi I have CRVO with macular oedema in my right eye, this happened when I was 46, it’s coming up to a year now and I’ve had 3 lucentis injections and 5 bouts of laser, I’ve recently had the ozurdex implant and i must say that it has improved my sight but I was just wandering if anyone else has had this

Anyone familiar with Eosinophilic Fasciitis?
My dad, who is in his 60s, was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Fasciitis this past June. Apparently this auto immune disease is rare, and they don't know much about it. So far the medication they have tried on my dad has not had any real positive affects. One of which is called prednisone & and another is

Avastin mandated as first drug to try by my insurance-caused silicone floater
I HAVE to try Avastin first due to my insurance mandating a "proven fail"...for each eye. I have to try 3 injections. The first one for my right eye gave my a permanent silicone floater the shape of a comet directly in my line of sight. I am beside myself and furious when I was told it was permanent

Advice for a newbie
Hello, I just created the account because I am struggling with depression, anxiety and ptsd. I was struggling for months by myself but I couldn’t get professional help. When I finally got it and I started treatment with first cbt and antidepressants then they moved me to emdr. I could barely go through

Researchers discover how lungs cells respond to bacteria.
Previous research has shown that recovery from bacterial pneumonia hugely improves our defense against further infections by seeding the lungs with immune cells called lung resident memory T (TRM) cells, but how these cells actually protect the lungs against future bacterial infections has been unknown
