Has anyone else on here had to have open surgery for Endo??- Currently have it attached to both my ovaries, rectum, bladder & bowel - with one of my ovaries is also attached to my bowel, which they somehow need to detach and possibly chance of needing a colostomy bag.. My ops on the 27th December with two surgeons. Just wanting a bit of reassurance and to see if anyone else has had this experience?? Saying i'm very nervous is an understatement. Any comments would be brilliant.

1) What's an open surgery? A laparotomy? You have to be more specific
2) Two surgeons are not sufficient. With both bowel/rectum and bladder involvement, you need at least a specialised endo excision surgeons, a specialised urologist and colorectal surgeon. You need 3 at least, otherwise you might end up needing another surgery after this one. Please ask the surgeons who will perform it whether you might need another surgery after this one in case of other organ involvement
You may find some of our support services helpful in the run up to your surgery. We have a helpline staffed by volunteers who all have experience of endometriosis, they can offer support, information and a friendly listening ear. The helpline number is 0808 808 2227, opening times can be found on our website endometriosis-uk.org/helpline.
We also have a network of support groups around the UK, you can find out if there is one near you on our website endometriosis-uk.org/find-a.... Our support groups are also run by volunteers who have endometriosis, they can provide support and share there own experiences.
There is also information about endometriosis and it's treatment on our website endometriosis-uk.org/inform..., some of this may be helpful.
