Cloudy blind vision

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this:

In the summer I got up in the night for my usual trip to the loo and I had to stop walking as I completely lost my vision. I couldn't see anything and it was like I was in a thick cloud. I stood blinking my eyes for a few minutes and then my vision came back.

I thought to myself, things can happen once and didn't worry about it.

Then last week I got up in the night for my usual little trip, and it happened again, but this time just in my right eye. It took a little while to come back, but came back.

I already have an appointment with the ophtalmologue in February, I rang them today to see if I can advance the appt. She said if it happens again then I must ring the same morning and go the same day.

Anyone had this happen to them?

Thanks

Alison xx

Safest to get a nightlight, Alison. I am completely blind in the dark and also in low sunlight. Get it checked out, though. All the best from Oniki.

A nightlight wouldn't have made any difference, I still wouldn't have been able to see !!!!

Hi Alison,

Yes I have had this problem too; in terms of both eyes only for a few minutes my whole vision just goes blurry like you said.

But quite often I cannot see out of my left eye. I try and wipe it or blink but it takes some time to come back. I'm also going to see my optician soon to get it checked out. I went to see my GP and they thought it might have been linked to a migraine as recently they think I may have been suffering from hemiplegic migraines.

xx

We do seem to have some very similar symptoms.

I'll let you know what the drs say

I would go to the GP. My mum had a similar experience and told the doc in passing. It turned out to be more important than the reason for her visit. Best wishes.

I'm seeing the Gp next week so I'll tell him. What did it turn out to be for your mum?

I had this for years during both daytime and night time. Been to the optometrist a few times but nothing unusual found. Kind of used to my body doing weird and unexplained things now so doesn't phase me much! 😅 Just a bit annoying to be blinded for a while.

Would love to know if they find a cause for you. Unfortunately, doctors here just don't care that much and wouldn't bother investigating.

I've recently started using eye wipes which have made a big improvement although my problem doesn't seem to be as bad as yours.

These are the ones I have been using. (Suggest check with your doctor first)

From Amazon:-

The Eye Doctor Eyelid Wipes - 20 x Single use lid Wipes for Eyes - Suitable for Sensitive Eyes, Detergent and Preservative Free Eye Wipes

Yes I actually don't think that they're going to find anything - have many things weird that happen. But because they're intermittent they cant find the problems. Last time I had strange goings ons they had no answers and just said that my body was getting too tired.

I suspect that is the case with this as each time I was extra tired.

We'll see🤷🏼‍♀️.

I'll post on here what they say . .

Ok ataxian eyes are weird and I can just tell you about mine. I have to wear sunglasses most evenings and I hate all bright lights and headlights. Every so often I would get stars appear - I had to just wait and shut my eyes - very scary for the kids if I was collecting! My neurologist was worried and she made me see an eye specialist - but they could not find anything.

It still happens sometimes and I just wait x
