In the summer I got up in the night for my usual trip to the loo and I had to stop walking as I completely lost my vision. I couldn't see anything and it was like I was in a thick cloud. I stood blinking my eyes for a few minutes and then my vision came back.
I thought to myself, things can happen once and didn't worry about it.
Then last week I got up in the night for my usual little trip, and it happened again, but this time just in my right eye. It took a little while to come back, but came back.
I already have an appointment with the ophtalmologue in February, I rang them today to see if I can advance the appt. She said if it happens again then I must ring the same morning and go the same day.
Anyone had this happen to them?
Thanks

Yes I have had this problem too; in terms of both eyes only for a few minutes my whole vision just goes blurry like you said.
But quite often I cannot see out of my left eye. I try and wipe it or blink but it takes some time to come back. I'm also going to see my optician soon to get it checked out. I went to see my GP and they thought it might have been linked to a migraine as recently they think I may have been suffering from hemiplegic migraines.
I would go to the GP. My mum had a similar experience and told the doc in passing. It turned out to be more important than the reason for her visit. Best wishes.
I had this for years during both daytime and night time. Been to the optometrist a few times but nothing unusual found. Kind of used to my body doing weird and unexplained things now so doesn't phase me much! 😅 Just a bit annoying to be blinded for a while.
Would love to know if they find a cause for you. Unfortunately, doctors here just don't care that much and wouldn't bother investigating.
Yes I actually don't think that they're going to find anything - have many things weird that happen. But because they're intermittent they cant find the problems. Last time I had strange goings ons they had no answers and just said that my body was getting too tired.
I suspect that is the case with this as each time I was extra tired.
Ok ataxian eyes are weird and I can just tell you about mine. I have to wear sunglasses most evenings and I hate all bright lights and headlights. Every so often I would get stars appear - I had to just wait and shut my eyes - very scary for the kids if I was collecting! My neurologist was worried and she made me see an eye specialist - but they could not find anything.
Hi I to get this bright lights, sunlight even the TV if there is flashing lights, I just put it down to having cerabelam Ataxia for the last 10 years, something else to cope with.
