Sodium Butyrate: Conflicting Studies
So I read one study from 2021 that said Sodium Butyrate was good for PD, lowered inflammation, and improved symptoms and then read another from 2020 that said Sodium Butyrate increases inflammation and makes PD symptoms worse. I have e-mailed both teams for an explanation. I put the abstracts side by

Sodium Butyrate: Neuroprotective effects of short-chain fatty acids in MPTP induced mice model of Parkinson's disease 2021
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33905875/ Gut microbial metabolites, SCFAs, were related with the occurrence and development of Parkinson's disease (PD). But the effects of different short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) on PD and involving mechanisms are still undefined. In this study we evaluate the effects

Parkinson’s disease patients’ short chain fatty acids production capacity after in vitro fecal fiber fermentation 2021
Inulin beat out resistant starches for butyrate production but both helped. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41531-021-00215-5 To conclude, this study demonstrates that dietary fiber stimulates butyrate production in PD patients despite decreased butyrate-producing bacteria. Methotrexate? Is it too soon to go onto this drug
Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with PMR in August 2020 and have found this forum invaluable over the past 13 months. This is my first post as so far I have always found the answer to my questions somewhere on the site. However on this occasion I would really appreciate some advice. I’ve just updated

Help! Trepidation setting in…
Having not run since I was 11 years old (I remember that day well….) I have decided that I need to get off of my bottom and take my health more seriously. Having largely ignored insulin dependent diabetes since my diagnosis, due to the fact that I am invincible, having slowly and blatantly increased

Definition of ‘processed foods’ - what’s yours?
The term ‘processed food’ is often used on this forum in the context of stuff to avoid. A little while ago I had an argument with my daughter who has been living with us off and on and as a professional carer cares about our health! She won’t eat Lurpak Slightly Salted because she rates it as ‘margarine

PA, neuropathy and celiac
I'm happy to find this website about PA. I just started B12 shots and are praying they work and I feel better soon. I also have celiac disease, neuropathy in feet and raynaud's syndrome...all auto immune related. I look forward to hearing and learning more from everyone on this website.
