Blood pressure meds
I was previously put on triamterene with a diuretic when I started having kidney Grf issues. So I asked my doctor to put me on Lisinopril. It seems to protect the kidneys. My blood pressure this morning was 141/80. It has been fluctuating from 134/70 etc. while I am afraid to switch I wonder if this

Newbie looking for reassurance after heart failure clarification
Recently and quite randomly diagnosed with heart failure, I had an echocardiogram on 7th March. Have been waiting for result as I know there can be several causes. The letter came today: “Left and right ventricles normal in size and function. Ejection fraction 57%”. (So far, so good?) “However, there

Experience with giving oneself a shot? Exenatide shot leaking - medicine being lost - please help
I take 2 mg of Exenatide a week for my PD. (There are many other threads explaining why) About 1/2 the time the shot leaks some liquid on to my skin surrounding the shot site. I’m concerned that I’m therefore not getting a complete dose. Please, if you have experience with this, help me. My husband

Personalised Vitamin Plans (radio)
Just a quick alert to the devious vitamin sales people! I'm sure many here are all too well aware of schemes like these. However, the end result seems to suggest just taking a multivitamin. And we know that there is a strong (and evidenced) view that multivitamins are not ideal. Issues like combinations

Cholesterol and hypothyroidism
I was wondering if there is any relationship between these, had mine checked they aren’t like really bad but my HDL is a bit low and my total cholesterol is a bit high. I don’t know, could be diet related also.

Gabapentin recommendation?
I have been dealing with pudendal neuralgia for 2 years now with no relief. I have had MRIs taken that show no causes. I have tried pelvic floor therapy with no progress. So, now I am starting gabapentin. Has anyone had success with this medication for tingling in the pelvic area? I am up to 600 mg

Encouraging results from the CureParkinsons supported Phase II clinical trial of the GLP-1R agonist Liraglutide
There were 37 randomly assigned to Liraglutide & 18 on placebo (2:1); At 54 weeks, non-motor symptoms scale scores had improved by 6.6 points in the liraglutide group & worsened by 6.5 points in the placebo group; MDS-UPDRS III (change from baseline) = not significantly different Secondary outcome analysis

Oral berberine improves brain dopa/dopamine levels to ameliorate Parkinson’s disease by regulating gut microbiota
EDIT March 17, 2024:
Today somebody shared a link to a two year old post of mine about a report on Berberine being neurotoxic and taking it off of my stack. Within a few months I found other information on Berberine and, using my High School educated brain, decided that Berberine definitely needed

UM-Palmitoylethanolamide can slow down Parkinson's disease 2017
I know, it is only 19 days since I posted on this topic: https://healthunlocked.com/cure-parkinsons/posts/147737298/palmitoylethanolamide-luteolin-kind-of-interesting But sometimes I bury the lead. I normally stay away from eurekalert.org (I'm not sure why. I guess I thought it was some advertising site

Blood Glucose numbers with APS
Just wondering as my Primary care Dr. recently ran blood tests and said my Glucose readings were slightly high at 120 or so. I have altered my intake of Carbs and Sugar quite a bit and was curious if having APS and taking Warfarin is affecting my Blood Glucose numbers at all? Age 69 and have had APS

Nifedipine side effects
My daughter is taking nifedipine and is struggling with the side effects. It’s early days as it’s only about a week but she is fatigued, has headaches and neck pain and I’m wondering if this is common and when these may subside. Her appetite has dropped as well. Any advice would be very welcome.

AF, Hydration, Peeing and Electrolytes
There have been a few mentions recently of how often we need to pee when we are in AF and I’ve just revisited a few old threads which have reminded me what I’ve forgotten - I MUST DRINK MORE WATER. This was brought home home also by an excellent TV programme recently called Your Body Uncovered looking
