Low carb works -slowly but it’s a new way to eat -not a diet it’s a way of life
Hello I’m 9 years post transplant and have gained about 40 pounds after the rejection and second transplant. I’ve lost about twenty after understanding what function the kidney plays un bloating and weight gain. Read up on it to get a new prospective, if your kidney is only sub-working I’m still at stage

have I got prediabetes?
I've tested my blood sugar with an at home finger prick monitor and my fasting morning reading was 6.1mmol. I've done it again 2 hours after eating my evening meal and its still 6.1mmol...which is surely good? But don't understand the High Reading in the morning Edit: I've recently upped my sertraline

W8R1 - A pleasant surprise
Week 8 had been playing on my mind a little. I had read a number of posts saying how difficult people were finding it and I had a real struggle with W7R3. So I got up a little earlier than usual this morning, in an attempt to avoid the heat, and set off on the brisk walk. By the time the 5 mins were

Are ‘they’ are now gunning for poor Dr Unwin? I would have thought that anything that Improves the health of the nation by helping you to lose weight, reduce blood sugar and save the NHS a fortune should be praised to the heavens but nope- looks like Dr Unwin is going to become a victim of his own

Low carb cooking
SheffieldJane mentioned a low carb cookbook a few days ago and several people asked for more info. I can’t see a response so wondering if it got lost in the middle of everything else. Since starting on the pred I haven’t eaten any biscuit or cake although I do still eat other carbs (mainly whole grain

Strange Development
Good morning all, it's a lovely day on Englands south coast and the sun is shining. Getting to my question, I need advice please. Newly diagnosed in early May with PMR. Put on Pred 15mg all symptoms and pain disappeared the following day. Felt great and after 3 weeks tapered to 12.5mg. No issues. Further

Film - Fat Fiction - free on Amazon Prime
I couldn't find this posted on here before using the forum search facility. It's a great film that came out this year, all about low carb, reversing diabetes, and the origins of the lies we've been told about fat over the decades. It's full of doctors, professors, researchers, scientists and even nutritionists

Counting and Measuring
The dieticians love telling us to count this, measure that, eat certain portions of A, B and C, and drink X liters of water a day. The underlying assumption is this: your body is a useless, malfunctioning contraption that can't be trusted to feed itself. But this cannot possibly be true. If it were,

Community first timer looking to join a weekly weigh in
Hello all, I'm 53 and always been a little on the heavy side. Over the last 2-3 years I've been on a downward trajectory, increasingly losing my ability to control my weight. I love long distance walking, but an ongoing back/hip problem (also for 2-3 years) has nixed that, contributing to my weight gain
