Morning glucose reading
Good morning I have type 2 diabetes can someone tell me what my readings should be in the morning? My GP said under 11 then another doctor told me about 8. Most days I am under 10 on waking up, I go to bed with readings of 6 and wake to 8-9 why do they raise at night? I use a glucomem metre

Blood sugar and Parkinson’s
Good morning all! I read within the last year about the phenomenon or whatever you wanna call the feeling of having low blood sugar or low glucose levels and yet testing normal for A-1 C, diabetes, etc. Can anyone explain this? I wake up every morning feeling extremely hungry to the point of feeling

Do you change anything when you’re ill?
It’s occurred to me before, probably as a result of something my diabetic dad said to me many years ago. So I have a sore throat. Not any sore throat, oh no. This is the mother of all strep throats. Entirely unsurprising after a year of not being exposed to anything or anyone - the first bug my system

T3 only update, T3 circadian, Heart rate
Hello. Writing an update for those interested in T3 only experiences and struggles. About three weeks ago I started T3 only. I had low storage of T4 so I skipped my morning dose of Levothyroxine and started 25mcg of T3 before bed that evening. Had I been on my usual dose of Levo for several months/years

How Calories from Sugar/simple carbs, are different than calories from other food.
Most adult males require about 2,500 calories to maintain body weight. Most doctors will tell you that maintaining body weight is about calories in and calories out, regardless of caloric source. 3 teaspoons of sugar and one apple are calorically equal – about 50 calories. Theoretically, if you ate

Help with result please - endo treating by TSH only!
Hi there. Please can someone help with these results. My endo keeps dropping my T3 and wanting me to add more T4 via NDT. He originally suggested I add in 50mcg levo even though he said in his letter that I had previously not tolerated it, hence the NDT. I note from my medical records that I was diagnosed

Extreme side-effects from ADT
Anyone have a clue whether the following rapid deterioration can be a result of ADT? My fasting glucose went from excellent 78 mg/dL = 4.4 mmol/l to almost diabetic 123 mg/dl = 6.9 mmol/L. in stages in the space of not much more than a single month, after five months of Firmagon. Tested twice last

My total test is ~1400 ng/dL naturally but my SHBG is ~130 nmol/L which brings my free test to only ~120 pg/mL (~0.8% of my total T) with albumin at 4.7 g/dL I'm supplementing boron, magnesium, vitamin D3 +K2, zinc, eating bok choy and 50% calories from carbs , 200g protein, 4250-5000 calories daily

Can Abiraterone/Zytiga cause low blood sugar?
I’m diabetic and use an insulin pump. I’m on Abiraterone for about 5 months now, with hydrocortisone 10 mg per day to control Abiraterone side effects during PC treatment. Also took about 9 months Firmagon shots, but just switched to Lupron to preserve belly area for pump insulin insertion ports or continuous

Diabetes Type 2, PD and Berberine
Diabetes is a common disease that affects many Americans and 90 to 95% of diabetics have Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). I will be discussing T2DM and one option to help deal with it effectively based on multiple studies. Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) is significantly less common so I will focus this discussion

Sugar...
Is fruit bad for your liver? It’s fructose right? I’m trying to get off the cake, well down to one a week. Glucose is sugar yeah? But fructose is stored more in the liver than glucose? Shall i ween myself off cake with fruit? My consultant or doctor had never had a diet conversation with me. In fact they

Decreasing bun levels
Hi, Does anyone know if steadily decreasing BUN and BUN/creatine values are 100% indicative of liver failure? Albumin, bilirubin, creatine, and protein levels are normal. Platelets are low. ALP, AST, and ALT are Moderately increased. The values have significantly gone down over the past 6 months being

I'm a newby here and so confused
I have had elevated LFTs for a couple of years now. They kind of fluctuate in and out of normal range. However, I recently went to the ER due to lower abdominal pain. During that visit they did a CT Scan and found diverticulitis and fatty liver. My Gastroenterologist then sent me for the following test

Yes, dietary sugar can "feed" PC? (And heart disease!)
Many have noted here that PC, unlike some other cancers, depends more on fatty acids than on glucose. Here is another study noting that high intakes of sucrose/fructose (particularly in the form of sugary drinks) impact de novo lipogenesis. That is to say, the sugars help promote the body's increased

Processed carbs
Eating processed carbs can measurably increase liver fat, signaling damaging inflammation. That’s because processed carbs increase your triglyceride & glucose levels, damaging your liver. Repeat that too many times & you'll join the ever-increasing number of those who are obese.

Chapter 17. I dream of the revolution that must come... 2/2.
This is chapter 17 of a book I published in 2015, "A Different Way of Looking at Parkinson's. Almost 20 years of experience with my father's disease (1994-2012)" (only in Spanish). Although we have learned a lot more since that year, I think it can still be useful to most sufferers and family members
