Tight foreskin/cracking
Hi there. I'm 23 and I was wondering if anybody can help me with an issue that I've had for a while now, or if you've experienced it yourself and have come a solution. Every now and again, my foreskin cracks which makes it difficult to retract - and extremely sore especially when urinating as you can

Eczema, Rosacea or both?
Hello all, I'm new here. After having several appointments with the GP with no result I wanted to seek some advice online before splashing the cash on a private dermatologist. I'll start by saying I've had eczema all my life (25, male) and as I've gotten older it's been manageable with a topical steroid

Decision time. Input welcome
Saw my MO yesterday. I need to make a decision by next week on how to proceed. My personal life is imploding and all I see there is having to sell my house and move to... someplace -- long story, but everything I've tried has come up short. BTW, I live by myself with no close friends and only a very

prednisolone to hydrocortisone ?
I've been steadily reducing my prednisolone, currently down to 8mg (started on 93mg). Now I have received a letter from an "endocrinologist" which suggests I convert to hydrocortisone (20mg morning, 10mg lunchtime, 10mgs evening initially). It doesn't really explain why, etc. I am assuming hydrocortisone

Hydrocortisone and tapering...........
If one is on HC as a pred replacement, what happens if one has a suspected PMR flare............ would one raise the HC at the same percentage as one would do with pred??? (HC needs about four times the pred dose i assume).......,,,,,,,, Then , if staying on HC for a while ,does the tapering doses

Still in shock,
Hello, the above says it all. Last October my husband of 30+ years went out to play table tennis and never came back. Long story short, an undiagnosed heart condition. Then 4 days after his funeral I was told the long Covid I thought I was suffering from was in fact advanced and incurable lung cancer

What is ‘SICK’ as in sick day rules?
On Wednesday last 9 March I went for my second Synacthen Test. That night while watching TV my fingers found a lump on top of my Adam’s Apple. I bathed it with a hot compress but it was no better by Friday (still very red and angry with a white tip) so I eventually got through to the GP surgery. My

Glioblastoma Caregiver
My wife, 77, and I learned on March 30, 2022 that she has gliobllastoma. We have no idea what we are facing. Life expectancy? Surgery? Medications? Palliative care? We wish to learn and receive, as well as offer, support to others also facing this disease.

Endocrinologist and Hydrocortisone
Hello all After many months of waiting I finally got to see an Endocrinologist as I have been unable to reduce prednisolone below 3mg without feeling really ill and in fact have been on 4mg since November. My 9am cortisol test was in the 200s. I have a little stiffness in the usual places at times but

What is going on with my shoulders
My PMR symptoms were never exactly like what is typical. My PMR pain was in my upper legs. However, I have a bad back and lots of pain from that so I don't notice any different pain in my hips. This all started 5 years ago. After 3 years I had to stop taking prednisone because I developed severe osteoporosis

Steroid use in Glioblastoma Battle
Good Morning Everyone. I was just wondering what kind of steroid doses people are on for countering the swelling on the brain around the tumour. My dad (a 78 year old diagnosed in October) had to stop radiotherapy 5 sessions into a course of 15 in January after an initially successful debulking. We cut

Adrenal Insufficiency - it is possible to recover with severe asthma?
So it was confirmed that I have secondary adrenal insufficiency the other week. They did also look at Primary but my blood results have shown that it is down to the steriods taken for my asthma. My cortisol level was again below 28 and unreadable but surprisingly my ACTH came back at 49. Renin was high

Other experiences of late stage glioblastoma
My husband of thirty years who is a little older than me and in his mid 60s has glioblastoma. He began hospice and palliative care at home in mid-October and they didn’t think he would make Christmas. He has done really well but I am exhausted. The cancer is definitely taking hold of him now. He sleeps

Due to previous Radio/Chemo on the neck area I have developed necrotic breakdown of the bone tissue in the right side of my jaw and when I lapse in the constant Gruel I consume it can flare up and become so painful I cannot sleep or eat. The situation is complicated by GCA and in the past Co-codamol/

Prednisolone v hydrocortisone
A short while ago I posted regarding my problems reducing my pred dose. I had an appointment with a consultant” endo “ who referred me for a synacthen test the results of which I posted on here . At the time he said that depending on the result of the test he would recommend either that I stay on pred
