Consolidating and chipping away the miles

Haven’t posted in a bit: I am chipping away at my target mileage for the month (aiming for 20+ to achieve 250 over the year: modest for many but an achievable challenge for me), running usually twice a week, 4 or 5k each run. Managed three runs this week: a gentle 3.5k shuffle this afternoon to take me to 18.5 miles for the month so far. Knee niggles are being managed with ice, stretching and exercises (I’m a physio, cobbling together a plan despite respiratory and palliative care being my field 😳), so taking it steady. I hope everyone is progressing well and staying safe in this cold snap 👍

Beautiful photo. Sounds like you have a plan that’s working and I do like a shuffle too. 😀. Happy running. Those miles are already mounting up.

Hello Molly, great to see your post and glad you are still aiming for your monthly target - you inspired me to set my own (virtual) target for the year (to Paris and back!) I'm still going out twice a week, doing W9R3, and Park Run on a Saturday. I am sure we will both reach our goals and I hope your knee pain doesn't slow you down!

To paraphrase the late, great, Brucie .... Keeeeep running! :-)

Brilliant, Amerynthe! How far is that, to Paris and back? It’d be nearly 1000 miles for me!

From Southampton it's only 222.2 miles one way, an easy number for me to remember! Or 358k. With my Park Runs and my consolidation runs, plus the walks there and back, and walking at lunchtime to get away from my desk I'm covering the km - up to 67 so far this month, so 'virtually' off the Isle of Wight (pic on my blog at runningtoparisandback.blogs... ). I'm hoping to get to Paris some time in May, which will be great, as I started work there in May 1981. Oh dear, that sounds so long ago!

Brilliant!! I live in Leeds so it’s a bit more of a stretch...!!

380 miles for you! Maybe virtually running to the nearest airport and flying would be the way to go!

Ahhh, I over-estimated! I am pretty close to an airport so that’d be a winner!

Thank you, all!

Well done you, please do a run for me, I have dodgy hip and am receiving physio, which seems to be making it worse - aargh. Brilliant that you are keeping momentum.

Will do: it’ll probably only be 5k though! Look after that hip x

Great to hear you’re getting out there ! You’re very brave to admit you’re a physio - expect endless pleas for advice from now on 😄
