Hello from Indiana, USA
My husband and I were both English teachers. He is 11 years older than me and retired in 2014, a year after having five stents put in his heart. I took early retirement in 2017, a month before he was diagnosed with PSP. I started noticing cognitive symptoms on a trip to Ireland in 2012. The years that

Be warned rant ahead!!
So I am currently an impatient and have been since the 28th of December. I have eosinophilic asthma - no wheeze and my sats don’t drop unless I am critically sick. I was in resus when I initially arrived and cannot fault the care given, I had back to back nebs and magnesium within an hour! The put on

Gemcitabine and Carboplatin tomorrow
Good evening fellow teal friends. I saw my oncologist this morning and I am starting Gemcitabine and Carboplatin in the morning. My Ca125 has gone up to 374 from 166 in December and I have the new tumours. I am pleased that I can still have chemo although I'm slightly concerned by comments like "it's

Saddest of News
It is with immense sorrow, I tell you that, My darling husband, Tony, passed away on Monday 30th December. He died at home , as we both wished. with support from wonderful Palliative care nurses. The only consolation is that he is now free from this dreadful disease and at peace. The last few months

Hello everyone. I’ve decided to follow the LCHF diet as opposed to counting calories. Can anyone help me please, does it give you headaches and make you tired. I was very tired all day yesterday and have had headaches also.

Spinal Compression
My brother recently experienced a spinal compression incident (between T5 and 6). This eventuated or perhaps more accurately, accelerated from two weeks earlier when he started to feel 'sluggishness' of leg movement to complete leg paralysis after he had 5 sessions of SBRT (total 20 Grays). Good movement

Palliative care advice
I’m on a syringe driver and can have prn (booster) every two hours. On top of that I can have 2 doses of oramorph and larazapan in a 24hour period. I’m also on Oxygen 24h. The other day I had a very bad “attack “ of being breathless and I was pretty much begging for some sort of relief but was told

Insurance denials
Can anyone advise me as to how to get insurance approval for a ganglion impar block? My husband is completely debilitated with excruciating anal/rectal pain that began 20 months ago. After months of agony, visits to multiple specialists, trying lidocaine, Valium suppositories, nifedipine, hydrocortisone

Blood tests after a trial of Levothyroxine
Hello all, 8 weeks ago I started taking 25mcg of Levothyroxine, TEVA brand. (I am already ACTH deficient and taking hydrocortisone x3 daily and now endo suspects I am becoming TSH deficient - T4 level has been steadily declining, and increasingly symptomatic of hypo). Blood results before the trial

Palliative Care..
Hi all my lovely Mum with CBD (10th year) has been 4 weeks in hospital. She was initially admitted with abdominal blockage, then urine infection, then aspiration pneumonia. During the throes of awful pneumonia she lost her already weak ability to swallow. We were told it wouldn't be humane to put a PEG

Electronic hoist & Hospice arrived the same day
We were just getting started with Palliative Care and it was decided that we were better suited for Hospice. I had no idea we would qualify for Hospice this early (of course, who knows how early it really is). I am so thankful for this. The benefits are probably as good as you can get in the U.S. Incidentally
