Ignorance of other diners when eating out
I've just survived 2 weeks in Tenerife eating out every night without being glutened! I know the Spanish are well up on coeliac and gluten but this is the first time I've eaten out every day on holiday, it's still a stressful business though. We did go back to the restaurants we felt were making an

Just one of those days
I feel like every time I take one step forward, it's really two steps backwards. I'm so confused with my thoughts and emotions. I'm physically and emotionally exhausted. Is it my Parkinson's, my meds, lack of sufficient sleep, hormones (i am only 39). I need answers but feel the medical community

What If ?
What if you saw your consultant gastro and told them you were having health issues with the gluten free diet? What if you were referred to a higher Gastro consultant and said "I am having problems with the gluten free diet", so within months a statement is made by the higher consultant "Is well on

Gluten free bread do you get used to it?
I wanted to try a gluten free diet or at least greatly reduced but have tried the breads and pasta and I just find them revolting do you get used to the taste or would I be better off just cutting them out.

Clear Point Surgery
My Dr's at a major hospital where I was approved for DBS surgery last fall called to see when I wanted to schedule the surgery. After explaining the research we've done on why I want the Clearpoint Surgery ~ it takes half the time of DBS, half the cost of DBS, less invasive, and you are asleep for

DBS and car accident
I had a very successful DBS Surgery in June. Many if my symptoms were curtailed. On Jan 16 an SUV pulled out in front of us. My wife was driving a 1997 Geo Metri. We were going 35 mph and did not have time to stop. Both air bags deployed. Neither of us had any accident injuries and the other driver was

How would you know if you couldn't have oats?
Hiya.. I'm a dignosed coeliac by bloods and biopsy. I suffer no outward symptoms of consuming gluten. I have been adhering to my gluten free diet for quite some time now. My dietician suggested I try eating oats for breakfast as I was suffering something quite like hypos even tho I am not diabetic

Would using a showerhead filter help to ease dermatitis herpetiformis itchiness?
While the DH rashes are most definitely clearing four months into a gluten-free diet, I still have an itchy scalp, and a friend suggested a showerhead filter might help. Apparently impurities and chlorine in water can aggravate (or even cause) dry or itchy skin conditions, especially in hard water areas

The difference between coeliac disease and gluten sensitivity
Finally, I've had my biopsy results back. I do not have coeliac disease, but have been advised to stay on the gluten free diet anyway. I am lucky that there was a recent article in the BMJ recognising gluten sensitivity as a separate entity, which I guess is what I have! I came across

Is it worth taking vitamin supplements when first diagnosed with coeliac disease?
I already take a liquid iron supplement, as I have been anaemic for a number of years, but am uncertain whether it would benefit me to take anything else. On the one hand, my system is almost certainly nutritionally depleted, as I have only recently been diagnosed and adopted a totally gluten-free

Ouch!
Well last night I hurt my knee. I was doing my normal run, listening to Laura doing W9 and thinking I may push on to do the full 5k. First 5 minutes was hellish! I don't know about the rest of you but I always find it hard and coupled with the freezing temperature and the snow lashing my face it was

SHARING GOOD NEWS III - HOW CAN DIET CHANGES IMPROVE B12/FOLATE LEVELS BY LOWERING HOMOCYSTEINE
Hi folks: Sharing material below because of homocysteine connection with PA. In earlier material I submitted about tests suggested for PA, homocysteine levels test is one in their list. Read more below. Because I have had symptoms that approximated even "leaky gut" description, requesting homocysteine
