I went back to look at your profile and five months ago you were at a stage 2. Someone replied to you and gave a great explanation about CKD. Are you saying in 5 months your kidneys completely failed???? Here is the reply given to you.

Stage two is not actively damage at all and the test is probably a computer generated figure - automatically offered when other blood tests are being done. The accurate method includes a 24 hour urine collection and the automatic one makes assumptions that may not be true. Also it registers as CKD2 when the eGFR figure is 89 instead of 90 and that could well be due to the fact it was measured after you had a steak dinner the night before so the blood proteins were high due to that! Or hadn't been drinking enough and you were dehydrated and that also affects some blood tests,

Kidney function falls with age anyway, even though there is no actual kidney damage and a figure of 85 is normal for someone over 60 - and comes up on the estimated GFR as Stage 2 kidney damage as shown in the first link. You are in your 70s you say in your bio - 75 is about right and that is in the middle of the estimated range - it isn't due to your medication at all. Just an inevitable part of the aging process.

APPARENTLY I WILL NEED DIALYSIS IN 4 MONTHS WHICH I HAVE CHOSEN NOT TO DO. I AM ONE OF THOSE WHO AFTER EACH COVID BOOSTER I GET A BIG DROP IN KIDNEY FUNCTION ,PLUS I HAVE OTHER HEALTH ISSUES.

Maybe stop with the COVID boosters? I believe I’d take a chance of MAYBE contracting COVID then continuing to vaccinate when as you say YOU KNOW it’s progressively damaging your kidneys…the chance of contracting COVID must be slim to none currently AND if you know the vaccine is destroying your kidneys then JUST STOP I can’t believe a physician would allow continued vaccination with this being the case… maybe some more info as your information makes very little sense.

Hi. I take sodium bicarbonate and it it did help to raise my EGFR from 12 up to 20. I also adhere to a strict plant based diet and exercise daily. I would say to ask your nephrologist how much of the sodium bicarbonate to take as too much can be harmful to your kidneys. Best of luck in your journey.

I have been at stage 4 for the past 5 years. I do a urine test along with my regular labs every 3 months for my nephrologist. My urine pH was low at 5.0 so he prescribed sodium bicarb tablets of 650 mg twice a day. That has brought my urine pH back up to 6.5 and my saliva pH is now at 7.4 where it should be. I cannot say that it helped improve my GFR but I did notice a slight overall increase in awareness.

Urine tests are fine, blood tests are good too. As kidneys decline, it seems urine can be a bit unstable or unreliable, so my hubby's nephs relied more and more on blood work.
