GREAT INFO FROM EXPERIENCED KIDNEY DOCTOR

I’d like you recommend this very informative video from Dadvice TV. The nephrologist gives explanation and advice for different stages of kidney disease, what is and what isn’t really kidney disease, appropriate treatments and diet, etc. I have seen this nephrologist several times online and he is extremely helpful and truthful. Most of the time people are freaking out over “kidney disease” when they are not in danger and are needlessly worried. He explains what tests you actually need to have done and how to interpret them. Also, many times dialysis is recommended far too often and too soon for people that can be successfully treated with medication and diet.

I highly recommend everyone to hear this:

His video(s) have been included on here before - maybe by you?

For me, the main conflict with this relates to proteinuria of concern eg:

1. He refers to a fig <20 outside US but does he mean protein/creatinine or albumin/creatinine? I assume former.

My mum's last figs are 26 and 15.7 resp.

2. He indicates/agrees 24h urine is gold standard, if done. For consistency with 1 above, I think he would indicate only <0.2g/24h is ok.

Mum's max to-date is 0.44g.

But the NHS seems to adopt Kidney Research UK guidelines of 100 for 1 and 1g for 2 so mum's nephro is unconcerned.

I fully agree with diet benefits as mum's only treatment has been Nutritional Therapy during which her eGFR has almost doubled to 60 in 6y.

Interesting topic. I did not go on dialysis until right at the last minute. The doctors delayed dialysis by about eight weeks and I was really poorly. Once I started dialysis my life changed and I'm as fit as a fiddle.
