Question For The Board
Lupron has side effects like CVD, brain fog, and loss of sex drive because it wipes out T production. Also because of castrate T, DHT is usually not a problem. Casodex has fewer side effects because T is not lowered but DHT is still a problem. I just read a study where Casodex + Avodart was just as effective

Effects of casodez
I've been on Lupron for 2 years. Went on Casodex last month. PSA had risen from 1.5 to 3.4. Very small mets in pelvis, but at my age 79, Radiologist thinks the CT scan could be showing effects of arthritis. Oncologist agrees. Radiologit wants me to have radiation of the breasts to prevent swelling and

Elgie Starting Xtandi
Hi Everyone! We arrived home from our visit to dr. Myers yesterday and we saw dr. Myers yesterday. He said that he feels LG's cancer is in the shoulder but he is not a hundred percent. He says that if it is....then the casodex is not working so he changed him to Xtandi. Wondering what we should expect

GOING FOR IT!
Communication is so hard isn't it? After a lot of telephoning around and talking to nearly everyone I could - except my urologist who is doing biopsies today at a different hospital. It seems that the hospital should have done Liver function tests so that has put me back a few days because the GP had

What comes after Zytiga and Xtandi have failed?
Hi, I am Sinjonn 60 y.o. and I was diagnosed with advanced prostrate cancer with bone mets in April 2014 with a PSA of 108 Gleason 4+5 and started on Lupron and casodex in May 2014. It lasted one year only. Nothing was done for 6 months in which time a tumor crushed my ureter and caused kidney failure

Foods/Supplements-Vitamins: Curcumin
This is a daunting subject - 272 hits on PubMed for <prostate curcumin>. Only 92 for <prostate[title] curcumin[title]>, so I will confine this post to them. Curcumin (Diferuloylmethane) is the main active component of turmeric (from the rhizome of curcuma longa), a root "spice" used in many Indian dishes

Been on intermittent lupron + casodex since 2011. Have hot flashes every 45 minutes, even when off treatment. Have found nothing that works. Am thinking of estrodil patch. Anyone have any experience with this? Joe

Bicalutamide (Casodex) plus Dutasteride (Avodart)
New Dutch study 1] below. The rationale behind the combination of Casodex & Avodart was articulated in a 2009 paper [2]: "Bicalutamide blocks androgen action in men with prostate cancer but has low affinity for the androgen receptor compared to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Dutasteride, a dual 5-reductase

Foods/Supplements-Vitamins: Apigenin
A PCa study involving apigenin has been appearing roughly every 2 months this past 18 years. A bit frustrating, since while apigenin is found in many plants (celery, parsley & chamomile flowers are good sources), no-one saw fit to create a product until a few years ago. The only one I'm aware of is

Husband is Stage IV Metastatic to Bones with Rising PSA
My husband was diagnosed in February with Advance Prostate Cancer metastatic to the intrapelvic lymph nodes. Biopsy showed 12 out of 12 cores Gleason 10. PSA was 31.8 on 1/29 after 13.1 on 12/8. He was put on one month of Casodex and received his first Lupron shot on 3/10 and started RT on 3/22. We were

My New Normal
Its crazy how fast life can change. I'm 46 years old and before February of this year always considered myself a normal healthy man. I have always been in good shape and was completely blind sided when I was presented with my diagnosis. I first noticed my symptoms when urinating and bladder not completely

Strontium to preserve bone integrity
I am looking for information on strontium, which is an inexpensive supplement. For me now, it is preventative as I only have a tiny met spot. My PCa aggressive but low volume disease. Post radiation 3 years and currently starting Xtandi, PSA rising 26. My life pleasure is now limited to playing

Casodex and ADT
Hi all, It seems to me that most newer treatments in pill form, come along with Prednisone. I understand this is for the side effects from said treatment. Where does Casodex fit in? I've been on Lupron for six years, and had one ninety day course of Casodex during this time. And this was recent. I'm
