23 years post-diagnosis
Hi, I am new here, and would like to introduce myself. My husband was diagnosed with PC in 1993, when he was 58. He just turned 81. The initial diagnosis was done when his PSA was 12, Gleason 7. He underwent radical prostatectomy. In 2001 his PSA started to go up and reached 4.4. Bone scan did not show

Not so good timing
Well, I WAS going to enter the clinical trial. As I was completing the pre-trial screening, one test required was a echocardiogram. I thought things would be good, except the machine found differently. I mentioned before that I thought Lupron may have changed my EKG, well I do not know what happened

Short-Course Bicalutamide with or without Bevacizumab
New study below. 6-month treatment after primary treatment failure. Seems odd to me - I wonder what they had in mind other than demonstrating an add-on benefit for bevacizumab? This statement makes no sense to me: "Patients were randomly assigned 2:1 to a luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone agonist

PC
Hi my name is Bill age 63. I have stage four PC Gleason 8 and 9. I was first diagnosed about fours years ago PSA 53. I was too late for surgery so I had radio therapy 45 sessions. I've been on Lupron from the start and went through Casodex as well. My PSA jumped to about 150+ before starting Zytiga on

Targeting mTOR
mTOR is a protein with the rather whimsical name "mammalian target of rapamycin". Rapamycin (aka Sirolimus) is a bacteria discovered on Rapa Nui [Easter Island]. It inhibits mTOR. So the protein is named after the drug that inhibits it! mTOR is involved with cancer cell survival, proliferation & metastasis

I was diagnosed January 20, 2014. My gleason was 9 (4+5). I had a prostatectomy in March, 2014. Unfortunately PSA didn't drop much. I decided to get colonoscopy which showed prostate cancer on my rectum. I had a prostate cancer specific contrast agent and PET scan developed at JH which showed cancer

My journey so far
It has been 3 years since my diagnosis. Beginning PSA was 843 and Gleason was 4+5. Began with Lupron and Casodex. PSA declined to 78, but began rising again shortly. Tried degerilix briefly without success, then shifted to Zytiga for sever months. Progression slowed and PSA stabilized around 270. Moved
