Hi, I wonder if I could get some help reading my APA panel results? I know they're abnormal and my fertility consultant has advised I'm treated as he would someone with Hughes syndrome but he said I don't necessarily have it. I've suggested to him that I re-test within the 12 weeks to determine if

Pain Clinic, should I ask for a 2nd opinion?
I had a spinal fusion for scoliosis last July and although my spine is now straight I have been left in significantly more pain. Some of the pain is from my ligaments being pulled kicking and screaming into a new position and some from a sciatica type pain. I have difficulty walking, sitting, sleeping

Tired, no energy, bad neck pains and headaches, blurred vision, sore throat and some swelling on neck.
Hi all and good morning. I am writing on here as don't know what to do. I feel so tired all day even if I have a good sleep. My energy is zero, I've had bad neck pain and migraine headaches for 10 days on trot when normally it's just a few days. My eyes are blurred and feel dizzy. I've been getting a

Blood donations save our lives
Ever been stuck for what to say when someone finds out you have CLL and asks what they can do? Why not ask them to consider becoming a blood donor? The Australian Red Cross Blood Service has just launched a Blood Blitz call for additional donors to make up the expected national shortfall of 13,000

Late October - Clinical trial update - B + R and Idelalisib - CAL 101
Hey, Well three days in the Day Care centre last week - first for IVIG and then the fourth round of two day chemo infusions. Both went reasonably well, with the minor frustrations of "red tape & paperwork". Although I was able to drive home after all three visits, I have felt lathargic over the weekend

Pregnancy and chronic itp
Hi everyone , I was diagnosed with itp at age 21. I am 26 now and pregnant. Baby is perfectly fine thank gd but my counts are not! I am 5 1/2 month now and have a count of 22 thousand. Prednisone 30 Mg a day which only stabilizes my counts. Ivig infusion works brings counts over 150,000 that's what

Dr Sharman provides an update on an NIH CAR-T trial for relapsed/refractory DBLC
Many of us will remember the excitement a couple of years back when Dr Carl June of the University of Pennsylvania announced Chimeric Antigen Receptor engineered T Lymphocytes (CAR-T) were successfully used to cure at least one CLL patient. As Dr Sharman covers in his latest blog, CAR-T research is

To those of you on NPlate, how often is a normal injection, how much and what is the goal set by your doctor as far as count?
My husband was diagnosed in May. Nothing but NPlate raises hiis count. Rituxan, IVIG, platelet transfusions and prednisone were of no real help. I keep reading everyones comments about their count being 20,000 to 50,000 but his Dr keeps giving injections and wants him about 300,000 because about every

Blood draws, what are your tips for a relatively painless experience?
I've just had my regular blood tests done, which prompted this post. (My routine is to go to a pathology collection centre for the blood draw, then two days later pick up my results from my GP after he has checked them. I schedule the test prior to my haematology appointment so I'm prepared with questions

Neutropenic sepsis
I recently posted an article referring you to a short video on this subject. Last week my husband had sepsis again. We were away on holiday, he suddenly became very tired, went to sleep for 3 hours (most unusual during the day) I woke him up, his eyes were rolling up into his eyelids, his speech slurred

IVIG & Clinical Trial with B + R -- Idelalisib (GS-1101) OR CAL 101 Study (III)
So yesterday - Monday 29th - 11 days after my first chemo B + R - I had an infusion of IVIG to help my deficient immune system. I did not appear to suffer any side effects - besides generally these are stated as being "mild, transient & self-limiting." For those who are interested in facts, the Hospital

Platelet count after IVIG
Hello all. My son just had his first dose of IVIG last week. His platelets went from under 2,000 to almost 675,000. My pediatrician has us scheduled with a pediatric hematologist in a month. He said that if I noticed anything unusual to give him a call. They wanted to be sure his platelets didn't continue

Acute vs chronic ITP
Hello everyone. My experience with ITP began on this past Thursday though I didn't know it at the time. My son is 5 years old and was playing at school when another child scratched him on the face. We had a very difficult getting it to stop bleeding. I attributed this to the fact that it was a face
