Some experiences on cardiac symptoms
After a stroke ten years ago I had an ASD closure. I was born with a mitral valve prolapse. My regurgitation currently is estimated to be moderate to severe. No surgery on the cards. About three months ago I was shopping when I experienced a severe pain in my upper back and left arm. My arm felt

Vitamin D & Calcium Supplements - current advice from Canadian Doctors.
Hello All, I thought this was worth passing on. I recently received the same advice from my family Doctor and CLL Specialist. "Make sure you take a vitamin D supplement at 1000 IU per day, but do NOT take a calcium supplement and try to ensure you get sufficient from your diet, not just diary but

An update…..and pins & needles
Hi everyone, For all who know me through my infrequent posts on this site over the years I thought I’d share the news that I have received recently a diagnosis of thyroid cancer. Hopefully a fully treatable kind but not entirely sure at present. As awful as it sounds it is in disguise a relief to have

Calcium
Has anyone tried natural high calcium mineral water to help absorption of calcium. I am already drinking high silica mineral water which is supposed to displace aluminium which seems to be endemic in our modern lifestyle according to Dr Exley Phd. I am mindful of the plastic bottles it comes in but overall

diltiazem and Parkinsonism
Has anyone heard of calcium channel blockers like diltiazem causing Parkinson’s symptoms? I was just told by a very reputable foot doctor that it is common, can cause rigidity etc. He said most cardiologist’s weren’t aware of this significant side effect.

PMR/GCA monitoring and bone supplements

Blood pressure medication
Sorry to bother people I am suffering from bad brain fog (or maybe just stupidity ) but I need to go back on medication for high blood pressure and all I can recall is that calcium channel blockers are not suitable but cannot remember which tablets are OK. Any suggestions would be gratefully received

A Blip in time!
I am 74 (F) and was diagnosed in Nov, 2019 with PV and JAK 2 positive. I have been in clinical remission for 18 months and take Jakafi 10mg 2x daily. I have an allele burden of 15 currently down from 60 at diagnosis. My blood draws have been within limits for 18 months with only a blip in the blood calcium

calcium intake
so now I have osteoporosis after RT and 18 months of zoladex for localised high risk G9. I didn’t start bisphosphonate until 4-5 months into hormone therapy- me but being on the ball and medics not mentioning it - odd as already had polio after effects so I was likely already low BMD. Anyway…. I am

Advice
Hi Not been here for a while as I have been investigating possible Hyperparathyroidism - still ongoing, it's a long road! Also had to deal with a gallbladder removal too...but now resolved 🤞 I'm having private bloods to check for raised Calcium (for HPT), which also test my thyroid. As both problems

anyone else have this problem
After 4 years of ankle pain which has now started in my wrists I have just been diagnosed with calcium in tendons and just read it can be associated with thyroid disease. Anyone else have this problem?

Low adjusted calcium level
Is there any link between thyroid issues and a low adjusted calcium level? Vitamin D is higher in the range around 100 (I take 3,000IU per day) plus was on a multivitamin as well. It has never been a problem previously but two blood tests in the last year (since starting levothyroxine) have shown a low

Heart rate whilst sleeping
I started taking calcium channel blockers 4 days ago due to my heart rate spiking when standing, showering etc. Last night my Apple Watch shows that my heart rate was 120-138 for around 20 minutes. Has any experienced this whilst sleeping before??
