Some experiences on cardiac symptoms

After a stroke ten years ago I had an ASD closure.

I was born with a mitral valve prolapse. My regurgitation currently is estimated to be moderate to severe. No surgery on the cards.

About three months ago I was shopping when I experienced a severe pain in my upper back and left arm. My arm felt heavy and I had to put some of my shopping down. It lasted only about 2 minutes and disappeared just as quickly as it started. I immediately thought that this can’t be a heart attack as I had a Calcium Score of 0 a few months before. I also had some neck pain that week so I just attributed the pain to a neck spasm.

Fast-forward three months. Last night I woke up with chest pain. I was very groggy and sleepy. Then I realised that my jaw on the right side was very sore. I got up to drink 2 pain pills. After about 10 minutes all pain was gone.

I am not sure what to make of these symptoms. Hardly seems possible that coronary artery symptoms would be months apart?

The only other thing is that for the last two weeks I have been disproportionately tired and sleepy after exercise. Despite these symptoms I feel fine and i would say i am fitter than most people my age.

Any experiences appreciated.

Oh, I’m 50 if that’s relevant.

thanks

Ellie

I think if I were you, I wld be seeking urgent medical advice to discuss all of your symptoms - especially in view of your cardiac history. Better to be wrong and put your mind at rest, than ignore and later regret not doing something about it sooner.

Hope you get some answers.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. Yes, I think I’ll run it past my GP just in case.

If your Valve is now moderate to severe you will feel tired all the time. I am surprised surgery isn't scheduled and would advise you to chase it up.

Yes chest pains. Upper back pain. Jaw. Etc sounds like could be heart related. I would seek further tests
