Iron build-up in the lung cells and tissues is associated with worse asthma symptoms and lower lung function, according to new research published in the European Respiratory Journal [1]. The researchers say that the study, which includes data from asthma patient samples and mouse models, is the first

Asthma-Coronavirus query
Hi, I’m currently working full time and my wife suffers with long term asthma. In light of this Coronavirus virus outbreak, would it be advisable for me to stay off work incase I bring back any flu/corona virus symptom back home? Would she be classed as high risk because her asthma is not under control

Ventolin on repeat
I was at Asthma Clinic last week and was told they are no longer putting Ventolin on repeat as there have been many deaths from mild Asthma where people have been rely on their Ventolin and not their Preventer. They say if you need more than 5 ventolin inhaler in a year you now have to be referred to

Does anyone else use potassium to help with breathlessness, cough, "asthma" etc?
Ive found that when I get very thick mucus in my throat - supposed asthma, breathlesness etc, potassium helps the best.

Social distancing etc
There is detailed information on the gov.uk website. Asthma is listed. Those with severe asthma will be contacted next week as they will need to take more stringent precautions

Children with asthma
Hi Just seen the speech from Boris Johnson. Still not closing schools. My 11 year old son has quite severe asthma, should I keep him home anyway, is he considered one of the vulnerable groups, nothing really being said about children. Thank you so much for your help.

Has anyone’s asthma gotten worse recently?
Hey guys. Has anyone’s asthma gotten worse recently? Generally my asthma is very mild, I only have to use my reliever when I play football or come into contact with cats/dogs. However, over the last week my asthma has gotten worse, not to the point of an asthma attack or even close for that matter, but

Asthma and Corona virus by
I have asthma and diabetes and I am in my 60s. I am really scared of the virus, but trying to stay positive. I don't work, but my main concern is that my husband is out to work full time, so I am still at risk of him bringing it home how ever careful I am.

Coronavirus
Anyone out there with Asthma who has survived COVID19? Would be interesting to hear how the asthma symptoms were affected and was any additional treatment required on top of routine asthma drugs?

Lost control of my asthma
I was told that my wheeze wasn't enough, my sats were above 95% so why the fuss, and I should have just driven myself to hospital ( hmm
brittle
asthma
, struggling to breathe and dizzy?!?). Consultant is considering biologics next if I meet the criteria.

Asthma?
I was diagnosed with asthma less than two years ago. I was dealing with a cough that wouldn't go away and wheezing and really having a hard time breathing, even when I wasn't active. I was prescribed advair, singular, cough medicine with antihistamine, and claritin, and or zrytec. It wasn't much help

Posture
Good evening all, hope everyone is well. Just a quick query. So whilst I'm still in limbo land with my potential diagnosis, and not knowing much about asthma, I was just wondering if posture affects breathing with asthma? I've noticed recently that if I slouch on the couch I get a little more breathless

Asthma and Chest Pains
Hi all, I've had asthma since i was born and it was fairly controlled until 4 weeks ago. I started having stabbing chest pains (not chest tightness) and shortness of breath. I had no fever but i did have a sore throat a couple of days after. I was in and out of hospital and was told its probably a chest

New user: unusual asthma symptoms
Hi, I am 41 and was diagnosed 2 years ago. After years of complaining if extreme tiredness and pain in bones I had flu and only when my symptoms were exacerbated I realized that my tiredness was chest tightness. Usually I have no other symptoms, just tired and slight chest tightness, which make it difficult

Asthma cured??
Has anyone managed to keep asthma away by eliminating wheat and dairy from their diet. Or does anyone know of any studies done on this?

What was your mobility like when you were discharged home?
So my Dad has been in hospital 7 weeks, 6 of which have been in ICU after suffering a ruptured aneurysm. He also has a stoma after some of his large bowel died and he later developed pneumonia from ventilator. Now he is on medical ward but not mobile and with alot of muscle wasting. I am worried because
