Endometriosis surgery

Hello, hope everyone is well.

Has anybody had laparoscopy for vagina & bowel as it will be a double surgery for me as my endometriosis is accumulating in my pouch of Douglas, some in my intestine, bowel the list goes on. I am on the waiting list to have this procedure done, there is a possibility I could have a stoma. Has any other endo sufferers had to have one of these?

Hello.

I’m so sorry to hear about your diagnosis.

I have stage 4 endometriosis everywhere including pouch of Douglas, bowel, bladder, uterosacral ligaments, round ligaments, womb stuck to my bowel and pulling it upwards, ovaries were stuck one towards bowel and other on pelvic wall and had 4 surgeries including tubes and ovary removed but it keeps returning worse each time.

They have to advise you this is a risk to cover themselves but be assured they will do their up most to ensure this doesn’t happen and if it does it should only be temporary.

I was advised of the same risk in all my operations and it’s never occurred.

I have had a laparoscopy in 2017 but they didn’t realise how severe it was especially in the awkward places so they did remove the mass on my frontal body but not around the back and she advised I had an X-ray to figure out where to go from then and I was transferred to a specialist.

The X-ray took forever how the radiography department kept rejecting the request saying it wasn’t good enough!

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I work in education so a stoma would be impossible or seriously affect the time I needed off.

What a nightmare, how on earth can they reject it saying it’s not good enough? I hate how they treat people with endometriosis as if their pain doesn’t matter!

When I had my first lap they saw how bad it was and took photos then gave me my options when I came round and had next consultation.

I know how painful it can be especially when it involves the bowel and I wish you the very best of luck in your future treatment xxx

Hi, I also have stage 4 endo in my pouch of douglas, bowel, bladder and had an ovarian cyst and endo was trapping one of my ovaries. Excision surgery was successful for me and although warning me of the possibility of a stoma it wasn't required. My surgeon said around 2% of people nationally need one but he's never had to do one so far. Hopefully you won't need one!

Thanks hopeful then, I was meant to have the surgery over summer as I’m starting my PGCE teacher training in September and the recovery over the school holidays would be great timing.

In light to what’s going on now I’m not sure when it’s going happen now but thanks for your comment.
