Asthma and the Pill
Since starting the combined pill a couple of months ago I've seen major improvements in my asthma control, with fewer flares that are less severe when they do happen. (It's also been really great for my skin and my mood and several other things, which are added bonuses!) The problem I'm having is

Stopped smoking, my asthma a nightmare
Hi everyone, I am an asthmatic, I stopped smoking the 24th of November 2019.....so it is just over 5 month ago, my asthma has always been light, I used to use salbutamol ( the blue inhaler, the reliever ). I was told years ago I had to use the brown preventer inhaler twice a day morning and evening but

Swollen/closing throat question
Hi, I wanted some advice from other asthma sufferers. My asthma has recently returned and not particularly under control, mainly due to hayfever. I had a 5 day course of prednisolone 2 weeks ago. Today my throat really felt like it was closing and my cough got a lot worse. I feel like I have stuff on

Bronchiectasis and asthma.
Hi everyone, I have fairly severe asthma, and mild bronchiectasis. I also have silent reflux and osteoporosis. I've had a flare up of asthma and my bronchiectasis and am just coming to the end of 3 weeks of Azithromycyn. I'm still coughing and occasionally wheezing. I've read that Magnesium can help

Just started Couch to 5K but hindered by my asthma. Any tips?
Hi, I decided to join my daughter with doing Couch to 5K. I’ve never run before, having had asthma all my life. But I would really like to be able to and currently feel frustrated that my asthma gets in the way. At the moment, I’ve just finished Week 3 which involves a 5 minutes brisk walk, then a run

Should I be shielding ?
Hi everyone 👋 So I have had asthma since I was about 3. The last three years my asthma has gotten worse. In 2016 I has a nasty pneumonia that developed and was hospitalised for 5 days and spent weeks off of work recovering. It took me about a year to feel someone normal and I've been hospitalised once

Any advice for asthmatics?
I’ve just completed W3R3. I have asthma and have found that, even though I use my inhaler a lot of times before I run, during the walk, I still get asthma when I run and find I need to use the walking intervals to use my inhaler again. By the time I get to the end of the whole session, I find my lungs

Natural Asthma Remedies
Hey, I've just started running the Ct5K and completed my second run 🙌 But I'm having a bad flare up with asthma right now, I've not been well and the pollen and running is sending it west. It has been so bad when running I actually had an attack after my first run, because even though my chest hurts

When infected to what degree is the level of infection the key factor in survival compared to the level of asthma?
So we know the level of infection varies greatly, with some healthy younger people dying from a big hit and some vulnerable people hardly suffering due to a very small level of infection, but as an asthmatic I'd be grateful for any guidance re how much the level of asthma is a factor compared to the

The days pondering
Been speaking to someone and she said to me.... "I'm a really bad asthmatic, I have a blue and a brown".... "what do you take?" I was thinking WOW.... I wish I was only in blue and brown that would be an improvement I think the NHS or whatever medical authority in all countries should be teaching

Asthma in carers
My 19 year old granddaughter has a long history of
brittle
asthma
, which meant that up until 2 years ago she spent many weeks on steroids and in HDU each year. She has not had an attack for 2 years. She also has cerebal palsy. Despite this she works in a care home, as a care assistant.

12 weeks isolation or not?
Hi I’m confused as to who should be isolating for 12weeks. I understood anyone with asthma or receiving a free flu jab should practice social distancing strictly. But I read an article which also showed an interview with the deputy chief medical officer Prof. Van-Tam and it implied anyone offered a

Updated Asthma UK shielding advice
Apologies if anyone else has mentioned this already. My inhaler and dosage level were in the Asthma UK table on their Covid-19 advice page, which suggested I should be shielding(I didn't get a letter and wasn't expecting to get one). As of today that table and all mention of collaboration with the NHS

Peak flow
Hi my peak flow is currently around 300. I have never been very good at assessing the servitude of my asthma and hardly notice when I am breathless of wheezing as I have had asthma for so long. I am now a 48 year old(female) and am trying to take better care of my asthma. I have noticed I am sometimes
