ACOS and mart regime
Hi all. I have asthma and copd. For a while now I have been on Fostair 100/6. It's ok but doesn't seem to last the full 12 hours and sometimes I notice a definite dip in my breathing just after taking it. I asked if I could just take ventolin in between doses which I could fit in with my exercises as

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY
I've been reading the National Review of Asthma Deaths after the news last week on the increase in asthma deaths. I was diagnosed with asthma in January this year (54 with no history of asthma), after a hospital stay I'm managing very well on anti-histamines (over the counter) and Relvar Elipta 92/22

There’s an interesting (Phd Qualified) Health Educator who some of you may already have come across on YouTube, called Chris Masterjohn. My Wife’s a Chemist (not Pharmacist) and runs several Testing Labs in the UK. She seems to have a fairly positive view of the guy which adds to my confidence in mentioning

Post surgery .........update
Well 28 months after my initial diagnosis, 26 months after my stoma creation for a bowel perforation and 2 years since my tah , I had surgery to reverse my stoma as it was constantly blocking due to a hernia. I’ve had 6 days in hospital after the surgery and I can’t say it was pleasant. I thought this

How long does a flare last ?
Hi! I would like to know how long an asthma flare up is supposed to last especially one that is caused by a viral infection (flu) ? And what drugs do you usually use to treat it ? I read that there was a difference between a flare up and uncontrolled asthma. How can we know if symptoms are caused by

Asthma deaths in England and Wales 'highest in a decade' BBC article
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-49277813 What the article ignores is that a lot of suggestions made by the asthma death panel have been ignored (some which are really easy/simple), and it glosses over that 2/3 deaths are preventable if proper care was carried out. Yes pollution has made asthma worse

Feeling a bit rubbish
Today I had an appointment with my asthma nurse. I’ve already had a few appointments with her this year due to inhalers changing etc but today was for a check up because I’ve been trying to stop a flare from flaring (if that makes sense?) Anyway, I have a great relationship with my asthma nurse (she

Help! Kenalog vs Omalizumab
So after years of fighting; you’ve got asthma, you’ve not got asthma. Flare ups where needing steroids every 10 weeks. We finally had a plan, go to nhs England for Omalizumab if funding not granted go with Kenalog (steroid injection). Now I’ve been told, to get Omalizumab I need to lose 9kg before

How fast can an attack come and go?
Hi, I’m newly diagnosed with asthma; less than three weeks. I take Seretide 500 and Ventolin accuhalers. Manifestations of my asthma so far have been very textbook: coughing, tightness, shortness of breath, and whistly wheezing. A couple of days ago I was spraying bug-spray, something I’ve done thousands

Severe asthma services in London
Does anyone have experience with the severe asthma services at Barts and/or UCLH? I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on them if so, please.

Confused re using blue inhaler
Hi everyone. I was diagnosed with adult onset asthma around 2 years ago and have yet to get it fully under control. I was started on Fostair 100/6 but this was increased around a month ago by the GP to Fostair 200/6. To be honest, I've kind of been muddling through on my own as I haven't really been
