Tomorrow I start couch to 5k with asthma. With 1 failed attempt under my belt from a few years ago this time I’m determined to finish it.

Brittle Asthma, Returning to work after shielding
I’ve got
Brittle
Asthma
and was shielding most of the year due to government advice . I work as a residential childcare worker and my GP and consultant have told me I cannot return to work as our area are in local lockdown and it would be to risky doing a job I can’t maintain social distancing in.

Am I being unreasonable re pet "allergies"?
I have severe
brittle
asthma
with a few classic allergic triggers (pollen, dust, animals) but have always lived with a dog and most of the time my asthma is fine.

Asthma and pregnancy
Hi, I'm new here. :-) I have severe asthma and am struggling with a lot of asthma attacks and sickness each winter. However, I normally have no problem with my oxygen saturation. We're planning to get pregnant and it would be the most practical to begin trying in the beginning of summer. I am however

Asthma attacks, panic attacks and what to do?
Hi I'm new on here so thanks in advance for any help/advice. I was diagnosed with asthma about 14 years ago. Last week I had my second asthma attack this year- thankfully whilst on Facetime to the 111 Dr so he called the ambulance and I went to A&E again. I usually manage my asthma well and am not too

Biologics (mAbs) - what are they and how do they work? 🤔
Hi everyone - hope you are well. Thought I’d cover a commonly asked about thing today for the severe asthmatics! I KNOW this infomercial will be a long one so let’s get started! 😂 WHAT IS A MAB? First thing to note it that the words biologics/biologicals and mAbs are used interchangeably 😂. They are

Blocked from return to work w/ controlled asthma?
Hi, I know many people are worried about returning to work during the current situation because they are asthmatic, but I seem to have the opposite issue - my work medical unit blocked my return because I'm asthmatic, but my asthma is totally controlled and I take one inhalation of seretide accuhaler

Asthma or something else
My asthma has been severe lately, several hospital trips and a few admissions. Monday was my last one. Well today I feel horrific, hardly been able to move.. My eyes hurt, I'm exhausted, my chest feels tight, I'm really sweating and just in general feel weak and my heart is racing.. I don't know if

Clinically Extremely Vulnerable
More guidance has been shared for people with severe asthma who belong to the 'clinically extremely vulnerable' (CEV) group ahead of the lockdown in England. While formal shielding isn't returning, everyone in this group will soon receive a letter, outlining the extra steps they should take. Our website

Hi, I’m hoping anyone can help or if anyone has had the same experience I’ve had asthma my whole life, no one else in my family has it so everything I’ve learnt about asthma is through my GP (asthma nurse). The past couple of months I have been struggling a bit with my asthma, I’ve been 3 times now this

Medic alert dogs for asthma
I have non-allergic severe
brittle
asthma
, and I'm willing to try anything to get my asthma under control, as I have had 4 admissions to intensive care this year already with Asthma attacks. I am not allergic to dogs, I'm around dogs regularly as I have a couple of friends with dogs. Lisa

Some praise for allergy drops!!
Hi everybody, I was diagnosed with allergic asthma two years ago and my body never agreed with inhaled steroids (the side effects were horrendous: depression, lack of energy, extreme weakness... the list goes on). A year ago a doctor put me on allergy drops, which combined my three allergens (dust mites

COVID & asthma: are we at risk, or are we protected?
Hi all! I know that everyone’s going to be worried given current news, however I thought this would help as things are constantly changing at can be confusing. Back in March everything was unclear so the world was working on assumptions. Covid affects lungs, asthma affects lungs, therefore COVID will

Black stools following Chemo
I've just completed 4 cycles of Chemo therapy after removing a tumour from my Colon. Ihave a stoma bag and my output is black / dark brown. I've had two OGD's to check out the bleeding in my stomach but they found nothing except gastritis. Has anyone had any similar experiences. Thank you. Michael

Asthma and Finger Nails
Hi all, I have a very random question. I’ve noticed that my finger nails are very thin and curl up at the ends. I put this down to chemical damage from having back to back gel manicures. I just read an article saying that this is actually a symptom of a lack of oxygen due to conditions such as asthma
