Clinical trials as a treatment option
When my mother was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer, I looked for clinical trials she could enter. I have worked in drug development for 12 years and yet it took me 6 hours to find the three most suitable clinical trials for her. In the next medical appointment, I presented those three trials to the oncologist

Senescent neutrophils and their subsequent impact on tumor progression and therapy resistance
I will comment after studying this for awhile, but it does open up an additional treatment path(s?) for PCa. Finally , tests done and a consult.
Gleason 3+4. PSA 8. After MRI, biopsy and PSMA (clean), . I finally met with doctor. He seemed more interested in removal. I told him that was off of the table for me. He referred me to an RO, but I have a second consult set up Friday with Univ of Cincinnati. I was confused by his explanation when

Your cancer treatment record
Just before my o&v treatment commenced I was given ‘your cancer treatment record’ a little blue book, supplied by cancer research uk, as a place to jot treatments, questions, symptoms ect. I’d actually forgotten about it and wrote a small diary of my treatment. Yesterday I was reminded of it as I spoke

Reviewing my final Path report, post RP
A friend tipped me to this site AFTER my RP. (I'd read everything my surgeon gave me, plus googled a ton of stuff, none of which made any sense to me. My MD GF, GP, and surgeon all strongly pushed RP, so I did it.) I've learned more on this site in 9 mos than I did with all the above in a year. Thank

Androgen Metabolism and Response in Prostate Cancer Anti-Androgen Therapy Resistance, Int J Mol Sci. 2022 Nov; 23(21): 13521
This is by far the best overview paper I have seen on the topic of AR metabolism and the nature of treatment resistance for mainstream SOC drugs currently in use. Recommended reading for those wanting to more fully understand their disease. Here is the Abstract: [i]

Stats
I’ve looked at various survival stats for metastatic PC. Most vary by some degree. The second chart on this site show overall cause of death stats for men at different age groups. It’s interesting to see that “unintentional injuries” are the leading cause of younger men’s death. Cancer is #4 on

Why is cancer so hard to cure?
Asked why we haven’t cured cancer, Professor Glen Boyle doesn’t hesitate: “Because it’s bloody hard!” Rather than one disease, cancer is a constellation of more than 200. It’s been linked to mutations in between 500 and 1000 genes (of the 20,000 or so in each person). “We are literally trying to tackle
