I have learned from experience not to fill in the online forms as there’s no place to explain how you are now despite what might look like a serious diagnosis.

I would suggest you get hold of a list of insurance companies that offer specialist medical cover and then ring them to go through your condition with a human operator.

It is likely to be expensive but hopefully they will give you a quote. I always make them add that I have a letter from my oncologist which says that they are happy for me to go. xx

I've used Insurancewith a number of times, even while on Olaprib. I found them fair and reasonable. X

After a lot of research, I found Insurancewith very helpful, and the best price. I was Stage 4 at diagnosis, and I’m sure it helped that I was NED. I did need to speak to someone, but I didn’t mind, as it’s quite a novelty to speak easily to a real life person these days!

Good luck, and have a great holiday!

Hello

I would echo what has been said already, definitely call, rather than do it online. And set yourself aside a sizeable chunk of time to do your calling.

I initially used the resource listed below to find likely companies who I would approach and by chance tried, Insurance With first. Not cheap for a week in Spain (although cheaper than the indicative quotes I'd had online) but very knowledgable and I*d use them again. (Never had to claim)

Good luck.

I have found that it is better to phone so they can get the facts of your condition. On line is often too generic. I normally go with 'Insure with' but this year 'All clear gave me a better offer

I have used Insurancewith a few times now and they were definitely the cheapest quotes that I found x

I used Allclear yesterday for a holiday to Greece in September. I did ring as advised on here as the questions online are too Generic and don't always cover each person's diagnosis. I did a policy for both myself and my husband for the one of trip and declared he was having investigations with hip pain. The cost was £196 for the both of us which I was pleased with, but it may be more to travel out of Europe. Good luck with your quotes.

Insurance With seems to be the best one, I couldn’t use them 2021-22, they had some admin/? Issues/ take over? I can’t remember exactly, so I had to use All Clear which was way more than the price of Insurance With. I renewed again last October 2022 with Insurance With for the year for £141. I go away a lot so doing an annual policy is better for me. I was Ovarian Stage 3 Low Grade at DX 2018, been NED since June 2019. Happy holidays

As others have said definitely ring up to get a quote. My multi trip (Europe) with AllClear has just run out and they called me to renew which was more expensive than last year’s quote so I said I was going to look online at other quotes before accepting, I tried Insurance With (online not on telephone) and quote was much more expensive so in my opinion much better to actually speak to a human!!

Hi I think travel insurance depends where you are on your cancer diagnostic journey. I do agree that filling forms on line is a waste of time. I initially found Staysure to be very good having used them quite a lot before my cancer diagnosis. However, after accepting my cover for a years insurance for a 5week independent train trip around Europe and Italy whilst I was NED, unduly when I had a recurrence they stopped my cover immediately even though there was time left on the policy. However, there is a positive side to this story after some research I contacted a specialist Insurance Broker in Halifax (uk) They researched many firms for me and found a very reasonable quote covering my needs. It turned out to be with Justtravel. So I will definitely go through this broker again. There is also a specialist cancer travel insurer, I think called Insure Cancer. However, I have not used them. I have Stage 3(a) Ovarian cancer. Hope you get it sorted and have a great time in Thailand. BB.

Hi Des my annular policies from bank and credit card would not cover anything that occurred which could be related back to my cancer ( only diagnosed this year and finished treatment). I managed to get quote for a worldwide annual cover from All clear insurance.

I initially tried Staysure as they were recommended but have since cancelled my annually renewable cover. You have to tell them about every single change in your cancer journey… every new investigation , every change of treatment etc as otherwise you are not covered for anything else. So you could break your leg on a cobbled street but if you have failed to tell them of a new drug you are taking your entire policy is invalid. In addition to this, as I see it, unreasonable rule, every time you do report a change your premium immediately shoots up! Then at annual renewal it shoots up again! Personally I will never use them again, but other people might have had a better experience with them.

Hi, I think this is probably the case with all insurance companies, I have just renewed mine and was told I have to advise of any changes or new medical conditions otherwise might invalidate any claims.
