I’ve looked at various survival stats for metastatic PC. Most vary by some degree.
The second chart on this site show overall cause of death stats for men at different age groups. It’s interesting to see that “unintentional injuries” are the leading cause of younger men’s death. Cancer is #4 on the list for them. I know I took a lot more risks when I was young!
Then ages 45-84 cancer moves up to #1. That gets bumped by heart disease after 84 but cancer follows behind.
Cancer is so depressing I really do wonder how many treatments/cures they hold back from us. I swear almost everyone gets cancer at some point in their lives.. it's almost as certain as death and taxes at this point !!🤬🤬🤬🤬
I’m 64 years old and was in excellent health before PC. MO originally told me median life expectancy for someone in my situation (metastatic after initial RP) is 5 years. Although after strong initial response to triple therapy the message I’m now getting is I will likely die of something else first. Well, who knows really. I take one day at a time and try not to worry about the future. I don’t think anyone necessarily “wins the game” by dying last. Unless a person thinks that this life on earth is all there is. I find that my faith in God and everlasting life through him is a tremendous reassurance.
