My daughter, a teacher, called earlier this week to talk about having to decide between being at school for the final day of the kids being there or accompanying a good friend to an onc appt to find out for sure if she has breast cancer. She called me yesterday to tell me that she went to that appt with her friend, and what she feared about cancer was not cancer but "just" a bruise! In my 19 years of having MBC, I have not heard of anyone that close to me getting news like that, and I asm so glad for her! I'd volunteered to talk with her and I sent my daughter info about the IBC webinar and other sources of info.....so happy they don't need any of that!

So happy! Such good news
Wow 19 years MBC I feel that's great news . If you don't mind me asking what meds do you take and supplements?
Do keep in mind that we each have our own unique bunch of cancer cells and that what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another! Initially I had E + P+ her2neu - amd bone mets only. I've been on standard treatment: Femara (Letrozole), then faslodex, then exemestane (aromasin). Earlier this year, my onc told me that the cancer cells are now triple negative. So now I'm on Xeloda. I was on Zometa and then Xgeva for my bones, but I've had to stop as about 4 months ago, I was diagnosed with ONJ (osteonecrosis of the jaw). It was caught early but now I can't have the bone meds that caused it. I've done exceptionally well and my onc and the genetics person I saw both think my family has a gene or genes that help us control cancer but don't stop us from getting cancer. My grandmother and both first cousins have had cancer and done really well. Wish I could share that/those gene(s)!
