Just saying hi
After 3 months of pain and no diagnosis from my very helpful GP who put me on prednisone which helped with the pain, finally saw a rheumatologist yesterday who reckons I have PMR. He has upped the prednisone and then is tapering it off through the upcoming weeks. I am a 59 year old male. I also have

B Vitamins are really getting my attention! B3 B1 B6 B12 and I just read a new study this morning that pterostilbene helps with B3. I'd love to hear thoughts from the group on the assortment of B vitamins. Also, Re B1 does anyone know of trials in the U.S.? RE B3 thoughts on Niacin vs Niagen? A great

Good afternoon. First of all I would like to thank @seaside sue @shawls and @greygoose for pointing me in the right direction. Just a quick question. I was on 250mcg levothyroxine. Amitriptiline for headaches
What are your thoughts on amitriptiline for headaches please? I’ve just seen my GP as I started getting unbearable headaches for 2-3 days a week 2 months ago. I haven’t had a headache for 7 years since I left work to start a family. I don’t have any unmanageable stress and haven’t made any recent diet

OT: update third week on vitamin B injection
There has been some ups and downs, but mostly just positive improvements. This really is, if not the missing link ,but a big part of the solution in my way for better health. B1+B6+B12 gives me better appetite, improves digestion , increase my body temperature , sleep better , I recover slightly

More on the Gathering Importance of a Healthy Biome in preventing Disease
Another interesting snippet on the 'Today' programme, this time from Professor Winston on discovering the importance of healthy vaginal bacteria in preventing premature births. He also speaks about the intensive interest and research now being shown by scientists in the biome and how, more and more

Relationship between serum cholesterol and Graves' orbitopathy (GO): a confirmatory study
The abstract of this paper is like many others in that it switches between "high cholesterol" and "low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol". Well, perhaps it all makes more sense in the full paper? (Though that is behind a paywall.) Still, the simple observation of an association is interesting and

Free triiodothyronine level correlates with statin responsiveness in acute myocardial infarction
Just possibly, low T3 is the underlying issue - rather than why statins have poor responsiveness in at least some patients. [i]J Geriatr Cardiol. 2018 Apr; 15(4): 290–297. doi: 10.11909/j.issn.1671-5411.2018.04.009 PMCID: PMC5997620

Who best to refer to? (Endocrinology, Neurology etc?)
Despite injecting weekly, taking folate and other B vitamins. My husband still continues to experience crushing fatigue and mood swings (amnesia etc) when not rested i.e. sleeping 11 hours plus at night and 2 hours in the day. His pins and needles, psoriasis, brain fog and pallor among other things

Dickensian gruel and a medium lettuce leaf ... Hard Times indeed
I posted a reply to Lin-Calif this morning extolling the virtues of low carb - my doctor phoned just now with the good news I've reduced my HbA1c level from 54 to 49, she will 'unlabel' me as Type 2 at 48.. hooray! BUT, says dear Doctor, my potassium level is increasing so here we go again, researching

About me......
Hey all I’m not really good at introducing myself but here goes ... I’m 45 nearly 46 🙈 single, I work in a high school and I have 2 grown up boys and a grandson. I was told sept 2017 that I have type 2 diabetes, I’d be very grateful for any info that you lovely people could give me, eg: losing weight
