Hello and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum bigbird1123
You are not alone in having a long history of yo-yo dieting, and the biggest cause of this is the type of “diet” we have all been led to believe was right. Most experts now accept that sugar is the cause of many obesity and metabolic disorders, not fat. Please have a read of this for a better explanation healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and this for an alternative approach that is working for many of us, especially women of a certain age, phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...
We have found that active participation is key to success, especially the Group Weigh In and Daily Diary. Please see today’s Chat Thread with a list of all the things happening on the forum healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
If you haven’t already then please read the Welcome post here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... please read it carefully and just ask if you have any questions.
I notice that you have left your post unlocked. We always advise that you select “only my community” when you write a post. Please read our security post here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
I will wish you luck (we all need it ) but also your journey is going to depend more on you finding out how to do things differently.
Indigo has provided you with lots of info that may help get you past the same pitfalls that us regular 'dieters' fall into. Do read them as it is likely to make all the difference.
Like creating a training plan, maybe think about making regular time slots to pop in to this forum. Being active here is often key to people's success.
I can sense your desire and those are two fantastic reasons to change the way things have gone to date.... so here's my challenge(s) for you to do right now (if you haven't already)
Pop over to today's weigh-in post (open until 9p.m.) and sign up. If another day suits you better then fair enough... healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
Then what about making a verbal/written commitment to what's on your menu for tomorrow. Worst case scenario check out the next few days and see what people are eating and why.... plus the camaraderie of it all... healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
Good luck! I'm already finding this site very useful. I guess it's more about small but important changes that last and a new mindset. And yes, I'm a chocoholic too!
Hello, I am new this week as well, I can't believe how kind, supportive, and "real"everyone is, been to all the club's spent silly money here and there, well, everywhere to be honest in the past, no more, you will find loads of support, and so many different sites, I am doing 3 meals a day, nothing inbetween, (freezer full of stuff) I am an online shopper, and it's amazing what stacks up....once a handle on that, portion contol, maybe intermittent fasting, low carb, I am open to try, no pressure, I am confident you will get help, and it is a busy site.....a weddings Fabulous, and you will be to!
Well a wedding good motivation so good luck. Look around site and see what suits you and if go for calorie count eat to top end of allowance and check your allowance on BMI checker.
My advice would be to read your messages of support and other messages when you are feeling hungry/bored/tempted to sabotage and you will turn away from the fridge.
i) You know that you are likely to cut your life shorter unless you tackle this so you are finally finding yourself important enough to do this - well done. Concentrate on your health, fitness and well-being first and weight loss will follow naturally from your new ways of doing things.
ii) You say your daughter's marriage is next year - perfect. That gives you quality time to throw the yo-yo habit away and take things gradually and slowly. You need to change the habits of a life-time, as so many of us have had to do.
Assess what you eat in any one day (write it down, leaving nothing out) and address one of those bad habits at a time, then sustain that change for several weeks before addressing another. Change your diet and increase your exercise gradually, and don't go on to the next stage until you know you have conquered the last.
Please avoid all easy promises from advertisers: this is a marathon, not a sprint. Diet companies make money out of our endeavours, but also out of our failures, because we go back for more.
To me, Size 20 isn't at all bad, but if it is for you, perhaps concentrate on being a shapely Size 18 for a start? To sustain this will be a Huge Success. If you want to go down further than that, don't focus on it until 18 has been the norm for months.
This is the beginning of an exciting new journey, if sometimes a hard one, and we are all behind you.
