So far I have found that the way I am eating and fasting right now has been the easiest way for me to lose weight so far. Easiest in my entire life!
I've been watching everything I eat, and because of being pre-diabetic, I avoid sugars, processed foods, breads, and grains and try to eat more like the LCHF type diet.
I do let myself have blueberries every day. They're very helpful with diabetes, since they blunt sugar spikes (google that for more info).
But, anyways... I got on the bathroom scale this morning and I have lost a total of 26 pounds or 2 stones. This is just craziness. Especially since I love the food I am eating and I totally feel satisfied. I believe my snacks these days are so much better than in the past and so much more filling.
Rather than snacking on junk food around the office, I am instead snacking on foods like:
Boiled eggs
Cheese
Green olives
Nuts (a huge variety)
Blueberries
Left-over BBQ chicken (We don't use commercial bbq sauces)*
Fresh Veggies, or left-over BBQ Veggies (grilled onions, peppers, etc,.)
---- ❀ ---- ❀ ---- ❀ ---- ❀ ---- ❀ ---- ❀
And, to be honest, the intermittent fasting has made me feel very comfortable with not eating at all most of the day and being completely fine with it. When others are eating around me I feel good just being busy doing other things and not even wanting to eat. I just keep my goals in mind: Lose weight, lower blood sugar, improve cholesterol.
Nuts I am eating: walnuts, pistachios, pine nuts, peanuts, almonds, brazil nuts, pecans, macadamia nuts, hazlenuts, cashews.
I've been busy lately at work, but I am not gone, and haven't stopped my intermittent fasting.
I started off at 220 lbs 2 months ago. I am now 194 lbs.
My goal is 145 lbs.
♡
*Our BBQ Chicken is marinated in things like lemon juice with soy sauce, pepper, and onion or sometimes just brushed with melted (grass-fed) butter and garlic. We do not ever buy commercial bbq sauces, we always make our own at home, and no sugars! Except we do like Banana Ketchup marinade, I haven't had it lately, and it is commercial and does have 6 grams of sugar per 2 tablespoons. We would normally just brush a thin layer of it over chicken drumsticks and grill them.

Hey very well done WM, 2 stone is a fantastic weight loss and a brilliant way of beating pre-diabetes so I am very impressed and very pleased for you.
You've given some great inspiration here coupled with some great advice, like keeping busy and staying focused on your goal and then really enjoying eating delicious healthy natural foods.
This is such a success so I hope that you are very proud of yourself and whats better it has empowered you to achieve your goals...😊
Yes, I am proud of myself. I'm amazed at how easy it was to eat well when eating well included things that I love. In the past most diets I tried felt like I was starving myself, but not when I can have butter, and nuts, and all the delicious 'good fat' foods.
For me, being pre-diabetic actually was the key to me paying attention to my foods. I no longer think of my foods as a diet, but as a way to eat that is sustainable and good for my particular medical problem.
Once my A1C levels drop, and my cholesterol and triglycerides improve, and I get to my goal weight, I can continue to eat well, and have a variety of nutritious foods, with a huge focus on avoiding excess carbs, avoiding sugars, and avoiding fast foods as well as all those commercially packaged food-stuffs.
In the end, I am hoping to know so much more about how my body responds to foods and how some foods can heal us, and how to focus on that. My body, how I feel, and which foods can heal me.
My goal is to keep learning, and keep trying. And, to recognize when I have eaten something that my body does not want (Like that darn kung pao chicken that I ordered for lunch that one time, it tasted spicy and sweet and it definitely had sugar in it-ack). I am learning not to trust restaurants, and go for fresh, home made and good-for-me foods instead.
Two stone is amazing you are making amazing changes 😀
I too am doing a similar diet, husband is prediabetic so we both decided to sort our diet and we are learning about healthy foods and the best stuff for your body cutting processed foods, carbs and sugar snacking on nuts or fruit.
Learning how it feels to actually be hungry and be ok with it.
I have lost 1 stone 9 lb husband has lost 1stone 7 Ib
When we get to goal weights we will hopefully fingers crossed stick to this healthier way of life for good hopefully 😊
I really believe I will stick to this way of eating, and that I won't go back to carbs, and sugars. I may have a bun with a home made hamburger once in a blue moon but I don't see myself returning to bagels and cream cheese on a regular basis, and I definitely do not see myself going for donuts anymore at all. Not even a bite.
It's just not worth it. My health matters, and since I turn 50 this September, I can't chance rolling the dice on health and hoping for miracles while eating donuts.
Absolutely agree with you that is exactly how OH and I feel., I am about to be 53 ahhhh and he is going to be 49 very soon so health is so important to both of us for healthier older age.
I eat in an eight hour window, and when I have two good meals I don't have the urge to snack inbetween. I wasn't sure if you said that you're snacking between meals or not. I think you don't
I include the things you listed as snacks into my two meals a day. I make sure I get enough fatty foods every meal to fill me up so I don't even think about snacking. I typically have a morning and afternoon black coffee and unlimited water throughout the day.
You're doing great. Better get that shopping trip organised for the new wardrobe you're gonna need soon
