Statins and Alzheimers
After my bypass surgery in March 2015, I was given a statin drug specifically, Rosuvastatin, 10 mg per day. After several follow up meetings with my cardiologist he gradually increased this to 30 mg per day. Initially I didn't experience any side-effects but by the 6 month I began to experience severe

Fibromyalgia and statins
Via CT scan I have recently been diagnosed with dense calcification to LAD, but because I reacted badly to the dye used in the scan the images were not good enough to assess properly. I am awaiting a myocardial perfusion and in the meantime have been put on aspirin and bisoprolol and a statin. I suffer

Whats up?
Hi, I was diagnosed with diabetes around 3 years ago. I then got IGA neuropathy. I came off steroids about 2 months ago and kidney function increased a lot. Still on low dosage of mycophenolate. A few months ago I started getting pain in my fingers. This pain now in my feet, my back, my hips and my elbows

Enzalutamide NFG* for me. Clinical trials beckon.
* NFG = No good. I finished up 9 cycles of docetaxal in July in a chemo-resistant state and started on Enzalutamide. Unfortunately Enza has done absolutely nothing. No impact on disease progression at all. I remain on Zolodex of course and MO added metformin and statins to my cocktail of drugs to

Never ending
I had a small heart attack in March,I had 2 stents and since then have suffered with pericarditis, struggled to tolerate statins and now have Costochondritis with sternum and left side rib pain. I have been advised not to over exert myself, use ice packs and ibuprofen gel. So far no improvement. I have

Correlation is not Causation - suggestion for BHF
Hi - some studies here in Oz have shown many patients stop taking their statins because they get muscle soreness, a fairly rare side effect. The muscle soreness is often just their bodies adjusting to exercise (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) and there is anecdotal evidence that medications get blamed

Just wondering if anyone else has had issues like I'm enduring at the moment I'm usually a well guy but just lately lots of intermittent pain on my left side that comes and goes just under ribs... I'm currently suffering from what I suspect is going to be laryngitis with a bad cough and chest...and

IFAB negative - should I pursue diagnosis?
Hi I'm new here and was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to proceed with my GP? I'm 55 years old and for the last year or so I have been suffering from hot flashes, extreme fatigue, depression, palpitations and back pain. I had a heart attack 6 years ago so my GP investigated for heart arrythmia

Trying to reduce cholestrol while staying gluten free
Hi I have Hashimoto disease so I decided to go gluten free about a year ago. I was on 100mg but now been reduced to 75mg all good. The other day I was sent to hospital with a possible TIA (small stroke) I had a CT and neck scan and nothing showed up? However the doctors despite this want to give me statins

Statins and PMR/GCa
Thank you for all the replies I got as to an as yet unproven relationship between statins and PMR/GCA. I am still looking into it all. There is a study going on at the NIH, Bethesda, Maryland, U.S.A. At the moment re PMR/GCA. I am wondering if this might come up. I will have to ask my Rheumatologist

Statins and PMR/GCA
Has anyone heard or read about a connection between statins may be being a trigger for PMR or GCA? I have read something about this, but not sure of the outcome of the research.

Statin
The doctor wants My LDL cholesterol to be lower and has put me on a statin drug. He will test my liver enzymes after 30 days. Have any of you with PBC experienced elevated liver enzymes from statins?
