I had a small heart attack in March,I had 2 stents and since then have suffered with pericarditis, struggled to tolerate statins and now have Costochondritis with sternum and left side rib pain. I have been advised not to over exert myself, use ice packs and ibuprofen gel. So far no improvement. I have recently started rehab classes as due to a few setbacks it has been delayed. Not using weights and so far managed the rest of the exercises but have pain mostly in chest area throughout and afterwards. Has anyone else suffered with the same? Be grateful for any advice.

Don’t know what the other two are but I am suffering with left rib pain since having my stent fitted last week.can you tell me what the other two are I might have them as well ha ha
For just over 2 years I’ve been plagued by chest , sternum pain. I used tinoanic and go to A&E, my cardiologist doesn’t really have an explanation. I had 25mins of CPR, so only general explanation is muscle and cartilage damage. I didn’t have any broken ribs, well not that 2 x rays spotted. It’s horrid becuase told to get in with life and whilst making a good go at returning g to things, these aches and pains always there, freaking me out! I’ve been stress tested multiple time, BP low, etc was big enurance cyclist before .
Only comfort I get is there’s never heart burn like sensation like I had before HA & working hard does not change the aches and or make them any worse.
I’ve even been told they could be psychologicall!
I’ve asked if I can feel the stent in my artery & general response is no.
I’ve just accepted this is way it is and at least I’m alive. also it does help stop me getting carried away and trying to push myself too hard!
Great to hear of others and their experience
I often get costochondritis as part of fibromyalgia. I had a heart attack early August and 2 stents and it's blooming difficult to decide whether the chest pain is muscular or heart and very worrying. The doctor told me to press on my sternum. If it hurts to press then it's probably costochondritis. I find that Feldene gel works better than Ibuprofen and capsacain is possibly even better without having any effect on your heart like anti inflammatories can.
