Care Oncology Clinic, or if not - what?
On October 11th I will be having my review appointment. If fine I will have been NED for one year. I'm now wondering where to go from here. I'm a bit disappointed with the oncology reviews which now seem to be carried out exclusively by registrars, a different one each time. One in particular upset

I want to die of heart disease
Every so often there's a post from someone worrying about their cholesterol, so I thought it might be apposite to crimp off a few thoughts on the subject. Here's the thing: we're all going to die. We don't want it to happen too soon, but once we get ancient, creaky, and crinkly, we're pretty much ready

For several years now I have suffered from nose bleeds. I have been checked by gp twice and they said infection but creams did nothing. Lately have been getting worse and I suddenly thought could this be a side effect of any of my medications on checking the atrovastatin the first most common is nose

Cirrhosis makes me sleep all day & night -- any remedies?
Hi! I'm new here. I have had NASH for many years and it has now turned into cirrhosis. I have numerous varices, and had a near-fatal episode of bleeding from my varices a few years ago. The varices have responded well to banding, but I am now astonishingly tired. Sleeping 18 to 22 hours a day is not

Statins concern
[i]I'm new here. Concern is re. statins. Husband has been taking two types of statin for some time. I am convinced they are affecting his short term memory (of course he denies this!). Have attempted to gather info. from peer reviewed articles on internet but not enough research appears to have been

'No evidence' having high levels of bad cholesterol causes heart disease. Where do we go now?

Plaque Regression?
On September 10th, 2018 I had a Carotid Intima Media Thickness Test (CIMT) performed. The purpose of the test is to determine the degree of plaque accumulation and stenosis occurring in the arteries leading to the brain. This test is sometimes used as a screening tool by doctors to identify people who

Anxiety
I am still getting episodes of anxiety post HA and Angioplasty. I am taking Atorvastatin and I can see it’s a side effect of the drug - should I ask to switch to another drug or do all statins cause anxiety? I mentioned it to my GP but she just looked at me blankly which didn’t fill me with confidence

Statin use/cholesterol management during venetoclax
Has anyone had to use statins/cholestorol reducing meds during venetoclax? In particular has anyone used ezetrol or crestor? My Dad was on statins prior to commencing venetoclax and he is hoping to continue with the statins if they will not cause any trouble.

Millions given statins 'just in case' are wasting their time and don't receive any benefit, study finds.
This article is from the copy of mail on line: Millions given statins 'just in case' are wasting their time and don't receive any benefit, study finds •Research found no evidence that they make any difference to low-risk patients •All over-75s have been eligible to take statins since 2014 even if

Jury out on CoQ10???
Spent a bit of time researching CoQ10/Ubiquinol. Seems to me that the Jury is still out on it. I can understand and go along with the theory of what Coq10 is, what it is for, its importance in the muscles department and elsewhere in the body, how it is produced in the liver? , how age and statin use

Coming Off Statins - Update July 31, 2018
For those following my progress I am updating my lipid values and the results of my NMR Lipoprofile as well as my MPO (Myeloperoxidase - arterial inflammation). As noted in my last post, due to a lab error, my June 28th, 2018 NMR Lipoprofile and MPO value were not completed. As a result, I repeated

I need a rant but also any help you can give.
What I believe to be thyroid issues go untreated yet again - the blood tests 'prove' I don't have a problem with my thyroid (thanks GP). I'm beginning to feel like a hypochondriac but thankfully I'm not being treated like one (yet). I'm pretty sure that's because I've had cancer twice so they don't want

polygenic familiar combined hyperlipidemia
Bit of a mouthful. But seems to be the reason for my high cholesterol levels. Has anybody been diagnosed and treated for this. If so were meaningful reductions in cholesterol levels made with statins.

Hi guys, I’m used to the bruises now but I’ve found a lump in my thigh the size of my thumb. It hurts like a bruise and I’m sure it’s a little bit blue in colour. I also have a pain in the back of my head. I’m sitting in my GP waiting room so I will update soon. Anyone had this? 2 stents 6 months ago
