Cholesterol
I had a massive stroke in 2009 and then two heart attacks in 2013 and 2014. I was put onto statins. Three years ago the statin I was taking was changed by my doctor. He prescribed Ezetrol. Unfortunately my medical aid would not pay for this medicine and so over and above my monthly medical aid contribution

In a bad way again
I'm feeling really bad again the last few weeks. I'm extremely tired all of the time. I have B12 every week and it was working well, but just seemed to get really bad again for no reason. I have increased my injections and am taking iron, folic acid and vitamin D. Nothing seems to be working. I feel

Should I get on the statins conveyor belt
Following a blood test at my doctors they came up with a score of 15% as the likelihood of me having a heart attack etc in the next 10 years. I've looked at the test and it scoring mechanism and it seems very rough and ready to me. Also, it doesn't fit with the way I feel. I am a healthy 66 man who runs

Does being allergic to antibiotics act as a precursor to GCA ?
I am new to GCA and was most interested in the notes on antibiotics.I am 83, have been in excellent health until now, except that I found over the years I was allergic to 9 different antibiotics mainly given me for cystitis or dental treatment over the years. I had a TIA in Sept 2018 and was found to

Statins
Good morning good people. Iv been bothered for last 6 months with what I assume is arthritis in right knee. It has become unbearable and whilst researching more info I found out statins can cause joint pain. I knew they caused muscle pain and probably did know this but didn’t associate it with mine.

Statin muscle pain
I understand that statins can cause muscle and joint pains. I have been on Atorvastatin for about nine months and not had much issue but recently seem to have developed some muscular pain around the upper chest and especially some aches around my collar bone. Have others had similar issues ? I find if

Hi there. My blood test results for cholesterol came back about 2-3 months ago and my cholesterol level skyrocketed from 6.4 up to 9.6 and i'm only 19. Is it common to have heart disease this early? Unfortunately high cholesterol is inherited from my mothers side but for a 19 year old I fear a cholesterol

Stress echo test found Inducible Ischaemia and mild Hypokinesia
Hi I have to go in for a possible stent next Friday after they have found Inducible Ischaemia and mild hypokinesia. Have to have an angiogram and am really scared about it especially when you read the risks. Have been put on statins, beta blockers and aspirin and feeling very stressed. Any reassurance

Restenosis. Any one experienced this or had it reoccur?
I had a NSTMI last August and had one stent fitted. All was fine until about 2 months ago when I started becoming increasingly breathless and then developed stable Angina. Finally had another Angiogram -original stent was 98% blocked! They widened it and put in a drug coated balloon to coat sides of

Wait for Stents & Echo Cardiogram
Hi My husband, aged 58 had an angiogram on 17th Dec. Put him aspirin, beta blocker and statins. Blood pressure and cholesterol always been good. He was told he needed an Echo and 2 stents and would receive a phone call on 20th Dec. Having not heard anything after a month contacted hospital, who apologised

How can they say it’s cirrhosis?
So, further to my dad’s diagnosis of cirrhosis last week, I’m still feeling slightly confused. In fact, I’m not even convinced it’s cirrhosis- but who am I to say?! I only have knowledge gained by excessive (and self destructive) googling. But somehow, I just don’t see how dad’s diagnosis can be wholly

New cholesterol lowering drug
With all the interest in the affect of cholesterol on PCa, I thought this paper might be of Cardiol Rev. 2019 Jan/Feb;27(1):49-56. doi: 10.1097/CRD.0000000000000218. Statin side effects
Hi, I'm new to this community. I have been on 80mg of Atorvastatin for the last 14 months but have noticed a marked deterioration in my short term memory and a need to think about tasks that were previously automatic, a few people in similar circumstances have mentioned this as a potential side effect

Leg pain
8 days ago had a stent fitted in my RCA, previously had two stents fitted last August after a Heart Attack. Amongst other things , over the last couple of days my right calf has become very painful, it almost feels like I have got pins and needles, with frequent sharp pains. It is very uncomfortable
