Does L-tyrosine lower TSH and raise FT4 please?
After posting "Muscle Stiffness" on here 3 days ago, 5 people commented that my TSH was too-high normal and my FT4 too-low normal, and may help to explain why my muscles are still stiff despite stopping a short 12 week course of statins in April 17, 2 years ago. So, I would like to know if L-tyrosine

Cholesterol - cause or correlation?
I am somewhat confused as to whether high cholesterol is a CAUSE (even The Main Cause) of atherosclerosis, or whether there is just a statistical correlation. The context for me is that I am advised to take statins but have chosen not to. Instead, I have tried very hard to optimise the diet and excercise

Another day of leg cramp in left calf
As posted before I'm having another day of intermittent calf pain in left leg. It's actually starting to worry me now! I've have severe sciatic for over 10years and I would often get left calf pain but would also have foot pain and obviously back and buttock pain that goes with my sciatica. But this

MUSCLE STIFFNESS
HI All I took a short 12 week course of statins ending in April 17 I stopped because of muscle stiffness However, despite stopping 2 years ago, the stiffness has progressed I have had lots of tests, but no answers provided However, the specialist did say that he was sure the statins caused the problem

Statins & Active Surveillance
New study below. Of little relevance to us, but it's interesting that: "There was a 2% decrease in the odds of adverse pathology for each month of statin use among the men who progressed to radical prostatectomy while on active surveillance". -Patrick https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30996285 Prostate

The Doctor's (and Your Dilemma).
So, a few weeks ago I became an ambassador for the Public Health Collaboration (PHC) and shortly afterwards presented an LCHF info pack to my GP. What response did I get back? Not even an acknowledgement despite me pointing to the success of Dr David Unwin and the monetary advantage for his practice

What's your ACTUAL risk of heart disease?
MikePollard recently posted a video on the LCHF forum that really deserves a wider audience, especially since we've had a lot of posts recently from people worried about their cholesterol. https://youtu.be/t8njzjSIybk It's possibly not the best video on the subject, but it's describing a test called

Hi, With all the news about how statins are bad for you, I wanted to pose the following question. I had PAD in both legs 4years ago, I had an angioplasty to unblock them, it seems that I just have very narrow arteries in the top of my legs, touch wood all is ok now. But my GP prescribed me statins, at

I am 60. I have high cholesterol. This BHF 12 week 'course' has REALLY helped me. TRY IT.
The doc said it was time for statins. I wanted to try everything else first. He put me onto the BHF plan. I've lost a stone in 4 weeks. No calorie counting (I just couldn't seem to get into My Fitness Pal this time, even though I lost 4 stones using it a few years ago!). I saw a tee shirt recently that

Lipid Clinic scaremongering/borderline intimidation?
Hi all, i am new here although have been looking at all the posts on the forum and do have my own opinions on the diet/heart - cholesterol/CVC . I had my general NHS check up at 47 years old, and my GP referred me to the lipid clinic, as he thought I had elevated levels of cholesterol (his words). After

Statins?
Hi. I have been prescribed the 4. statin Type and can‘t tolerate either. I am getting pains in my thighs and it makes walking difficult. I had a stroke 4 years ago due to AF. Statins are prescribed for cardiovascular problems. Am I right in thinking that the clot developed due to the hr irregularities

I had a bad fall on my right knee, over a year ago. Had it x-rayed but they said it's fine.
After x-ray, they said all good and I've had crutches, and braces etc. Since my GP put me on Statins, both legs and my knee have swollen beyond belief. I took myself off Statins and they went down but my knee is excruciating at times. I've had one steroid injection, which didn't seem to do much. Sometimes

Statins and exacerbation of dizziness/ fuzziness
Has anyone experienced exacerbation of their dizziness if/when they started taking Statins for high cholesterol?
