High LDL, genetic?
3 months after my heart attack and I had my cholesterol measured. TC was down from 7.2 to 6.1 and LDL was at 4.5(!) I've lost 2 stone but still have another stone to reach a healthy weight. I'm noticeably still carrying visceral fat. My diet has changed significantly, and exercise levels are up. I'm

Why take statins when my angiogram came out clear?
I have had all major heart tests : CATscan, Cardiac MRI, Angiogram, as well as ECGs and blood tests this past year. The scans and angiogram came out completely clear. The doctor at the angiogram called my arteries "pristine"! And yet I have had high cholesterol (7+) sometimes going down to 5 for the

How fast do statins work?
Hello, I was wondering how quickly do statins start to work - lower cholesterol? Is 1 week after starting it, long enough for a blood test to show if it works? Thank you

STATINS AND HAIR THINNING
Hello. My question is this.... I have been on Atorvastatin 20mg for a year now. Have no muscle problems whatsoever but have noticed that my hair has got really thin and is coming out. I have changed my diet for the better and take vitamins so I do not think at all it's anything to do with what I eat

Blocked Artery
I live in Spain and was diagnosed with Angina some years ago and prescribed medication. After a few years my condition got worse I was given an angiogram, when they discovered a totally blocked artery. I was told that it was impossible to fit a stent and that it was not necessary to have a heart bypass

Not the news I wanted
Well - that’s a bit of a bummer - following my recent set of blood tests, I received a phone call from the surgery; in a rather too enthusiastic voice (I thought) I was told ‘you are officially diabetic......‘ ‘Your previous result was 48 and your last one was 52 - I’m putting that down as steroid-induced

Feeling so scared
I just came out of hospital 2 weeks ago. I had a ''massive'' heart attack the nurse said which spooked me a bit. Because of where we live I got taken to 3 hospitals in one day. I am a retired nurse of 22 years ago and should know better but I am so scared and frightened. Usually I am in control. Had

Just recieved my most recent thyroid, Iron and Vitamin D tests. Before anyone comments about thyroid test (FT3 was not tested) can't get Endo to think it's relevant... "sigh"! For those who don't know me I've been thyroid-less (cancer) since 10/2016 and developed debilitating Psoriatic Arthritis
