How fast do statins work?

Hello,

I was wondering how quickly do statins start to work - lower cholesterol? Is 1 week after starting it, long enough for a blood test to show if it works?

Thank you

Don't know how accurate this is but my doctor said I needed to wait at least a month to see any results.

In my case my GP asked me to wait for three months for blood tests.

I took a blood test at the local chemist after two weeks and the total cholesterol dropped to 2.8.

It was good I did not listen to the GP!!!, I stopped the statin, no more statin.

Now days the home test for cholesterol, blood glucose and uric acid three in one test device is available on line, I have one of this device to test cholesterol at home.

Human body needs cholesterol to function.

Take care.
