Benefits of diet and fasting

Had a physical last March, was okay, but Cholesterol again high for over 5th year in a row +245. Next day Doc said "you need to go on Statins" I said cant i try natural approaches? He said "they dont work." I heard so much about how bad statins are so I changed my diet, no more fast food, processed food and only ate 2 meals per day......June 21st tested and it was down to 206. No need for statins.

Then doc called me and and said my PSA was 8.6, go see a Urologist....he said after dre and ultrasound and second psa....need biopsy got on 6/16....said I had intermediate stage Gleason 8 cancer and need to remove prostate.

I researched prostate cancer hours everyday and go a bunch of anti cancer supplements, vitamins, minerals am putting off surgery until end of Sept. I have since then eating once a day, 23hr fast and every other week I do 48 to 65 hour fasts. I will go test at end of Sept. Reading about how beneficial intermittent fasting is good for you and to rejuvenate cell development and destruction of cancer cells.

Will keep you posted.

No mpMRI ? PIRADS ? Unguided biopsy leading to Gleason Score of 8 is anything but intermediate risk

It is high!

Having mri on hip surrounding area at end of Sept and a few days later meet with with the Onc doc about Ibrt or brachey therapy. I eat no fruit, carbohydrates, no sugars, pastas, grains, rice, bread and only cruciferice veggies. I have been taking turkey tail powder, Artemisinin, lipoid acid and garlic pills and other stuff to inhibit most glutamine (cancer uses glutamine). I am going to starve the cancer and by putting my body into autophagy to fight cancer cells and regenerate new cells this my mission until end of Sept. Then test my PSA and see if I can beat this......why not?

I got this strategy from Guy Tenenbaum....stage 4 prostate cancer at end of 2018 and his PSA was 57 and now .1. Look up Cancer Therapy on YouTube and read his story.

Ok, two months are not that critical. But if you don't see a dramatic drop of your PSA you will better follow some beaten path along with your nutritional endeavours. Such a high PSA may already be interpreted as stage 4. If you can get a PSMA scan now you will be better prepared for the end of September re-evaluation. Keep us posted. Good luck with it.

That is high risk, not intermediate. The best results are with a combination of external beam radiation, a breachytherapy boost to the prostate and 18 months of ADT. It works better than surgery. You would have to meet with a radiation oncologist who specializes in brachytherapy. Good idea to get a Lupron shot now so it doesn't spread while you're waiting. Don't give it a chance to spread and become incurable.

The intermittent fasting is probably good for you. Increasing the amount of exercise you get will help the radiation work better.

Don't rely solely on supplements though I think they are Very helpful. If your Pca is confined to the prostate you have a good chance of getting it all with surgery.

Hey Trekstar!

Did you have a mp 3.T MRI read by an experienced Doc? You should have one that immediately that will take in the soft tissues and organs in that area. You don't mention having a bone scan. It is important to know where your cancer is and what it is doing. I see that you mention a DRE, two PSA tests an ultrasound and a biopsy.

Be careful of being your own internet Doc. That could be fatal. Complementary supplements and treatments can be very beneficial extending time to treatment or recurrence and even preventing recurrence. Notice that the preceding sentence began with the word "complementary". Lifestyle and diet changes can also be very helpful.

Be a good idea to start Kegels.

Stay away from Statins, I lowered my bad and raised my good cholesterol with Niacin and Omega 3 fish oil. THrough in some Vitamin D for good measure.

Don't rush into RP surgery without researching the other treatment options out there. Don't avoid treatment either. You are in a pickle that you can't fast or exercise yourself out of. You do need medical help.

The best thing I would suggest is do exactly as you plan regarding diet etc PLUS listen to Tall_Allen... Then you might live longer. Cheers

If you're interested in supplements then you might want to consider Essiac.

It's been around for almost one hundred years and is made from the herbs sheep sorrel, turkey rhubarb, burdock and slippery elm bark.

I've been taking it for over 3 years and am happy with my results so far.

Dave.

Hi Trekstar. I too am using intermittent fasting 16-20 hours daily with a 40+ hr fast every third week. The benefits of autophagy can play a role in destroying at the cellular level. I was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. All of the current treatments involving burning (radiation) surgery (cutting) or poisoning (chemotherapy). Since my urologist said I am a candidate for active surveillance for now, I chose to do that. But no way am I just going to wait and hope for now. Since this is just like a small weed in my garden, I am going to do what is reasonable to at least try, especially if the risk is low. I am not going to take a blowtorch to my garden for a weed and burn everything else, use a backhoe to tear out the whole yard for a weed, or use poison that will kill everything around. Lets focus on what the week needs to thrive and feed it things that interrupt its growth or activates apoptosis (cell death).

I am not a medical professional. I am a criminal investigator and with extensive safety risk management experience as a military officer. I like to dig into facts and take actions that have reasonable risks. I decided to do this:

Supplements:

1. Ursolic Acid 450 mg/day

2. Curcumin 650 mg/day

3. Lycopene 20 mg/day

4. Fenbenzadole (Panacure C) 222 mg/3days a week (yeah, its for dog worms but the potential benefit clearly outweighs the risk)

I will have my PSA checked in two months. So far I did notice a difference. Within a couple of weeks, very easy to urinate and do not have to get up multiple times during the night to pee. Often no sleep interruption at all. No known side effects after 6 weeks. I still work full time, exercise regularly, and am always optimistic.

Did I tell my doctor? No.

My only disappointment so far is that I cannot fly as a pilot and had to ground myself.
