Trying hard to take statins after heart bypass. Have managed to get my cholesterol level down to normal without statins and result came back from lab “no further action” but rang my doctor anyway to discuss the fact I should be on them as a precautionary measure . He put me on Ezetimibe 10 mg but no I still got that same old feeling of bad indigestion, tiredness etc. In hospital I had such bad stomach/bowel problems that they identified statins as the reason. I am not overweight, excercise a lot and play tennis Am on aspirin. I eat a very low fat diet . No junk food. Is there anyone out there who does not take statins and has any suggestions please. It still niggles me that I should be on statins . 77 year old female

You are probably on Statins not for cholesterol but because it is a very good anti inflammatory.
Well not so sure about that. My sister suffered for years while on statins with different joint pains and I think mentally. Since she has been taken off them she feels so much better. But I would like to know anyone else’s reaction to taking statins
Hi, I’ve had high cholesterol for a few years, tried to take simvastatin and atorvastatin but muscle pain is too much to bear !!! I’m on my own and have to work full time, just got a call from surgery today, I’m guessing cholesterol level is up again !!! I’d be happy to hear about alternatives too, keep well x
