I'm new. Trying to get straight answer on risk of heart failure
I have had permanent atrial fibrillation for about 20 years. (cardioversions and ablations haven't worked). I take Rivaroxaban and statins and 99% of the time feel very well. I have recently read that I have and increased risk of heart failure because my af is permanent. Is this true and what is my risk

Gum Disease
This is a question for a Medical Person HA last June, 3 Stents fitted and now on a mixture of drugs. For 30 years I have been going to the dentist, twice a year, only had 2 fillings and 1 emergency tooth chip fixed. Every time had a clean and polish. Never any signs of gum disease. Visited dentist last

GP and Cardiologist Disagree On Statins
7 months post Covid and unfortunately I'm still having issues. Went to the cardiologist to check my heart just in case. Normal echo, initially a normal EKG, but my stress test showed an inverted T wave. After bloods tests, he wanted me on statins and BP meds (BP is -140ish/90 and LDL of 159. Normal

Long Term Effects of Aspirin and Statins
What are the long term effects of aspirin and statin use? Doctors just seem to hand them out like sweets!

Hi
It sounds as if you are having a bad time. I don't have restless leg syndrome although I do have a vascular blockage in one leg and osteo-arthritis. A couple of years ago it was so bad that after walking 2 or 3 hundred yards my leg felt as though it would explode and I had to stop and rest it. My

Guilty Pleasures
I’m 68 and had double bypass 5 months ago. No symptoms, no heart attack, I was otherwise fit and well. Was found by chance. I’ve been blessed with a good recovery and it is now becoming just a tough memory. I’m so thankful that my journey has been relatively straight forward. I’m 170 pounds, lost 15

CHANGE OF BP MEDICATION - INTERACTION WITH SIMVASTATIN 40MG
As posted previously I was switched from attenolol; to Amlodipine 5mg. However apparently Amlodipine does not interact well with statins 40mg. So the GP has now put me on Lercanidipine 10mg. I post this as info in case anyone has concerns with Amlodipine and Statins being taken together and are

Stopping Statins for 2 weeks
Hi, I have recently been prescribed Clarithromycin antibiotics for a chest infection. I can’t take my Statins (Simvastatin 80 mg, 1 per day) with these antibiotics. I will be taking them for 2 weeks and if I get further infections, I will be taking them for another 2 weeks (recently diagnosed with Bronchiectasis

Ezetimibe side-effects
I've been prescribed two statins in the past although I've never had a heart attack. My cholesterol is on the high side. SSSAfter the 2nd dose of simvastatin I woke at night gasping for breath. My doctor switched to rosuvastatin and 30 minutes after taking the only tablet I experienced numbness, tingling

Statistics on the Statins - to take or not?
This is what my GP surgery sent - instead of the usual ‘annual conversation’ putting the onus on me to contact them if I want to talk about it. Interesting way of presenting the stats, still won’t persuade me though. So 15/100 will have a stroke. 5 will not because of taking statins. If inflammation

Side effects of statins.
Hi. I was started on Atorvastatin following my nstemi in Oct 20...in Dec my cardiac specialist stopped my statin to see if it was a contributing factor to my shortness of breath... Within 24hrs of stopping them, my breathing was better... My GP then started me on pravastatin....after only a few days

Stroke and mbc
Hi everyone, Happy New Year to all! I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced what I have had. I have always been basically healthy, don't smoke, exercise, active... In October 2018, I had a cryptogenic stroke - they never found what triggered it. Happily no sequelae. Lost all my self confidence
