Recently diagnosed - help!
I am recovering from a fractured hip after a fall in April and have discovered after a DEXA scan that I have Osteoporosis. I am 60 years old and very active - walking/gym and this is all quite a shock. I couldn't take all the info in at the bone clinic when told, so blindly went along with daily 1000mg

Low insulin normal glucose
My fasting insulin level is very low (below 2 mE/L). I measured it first 2 years ago and it was 3,9 mE/L (ref. range 2-29,1). Carbs intake was 200g per day back then, mostly from low GI foods, absolutely no sugars. Last week my fasting insulin was below 2 mE/L. These weeks I have been eating about

When I first signed up to this a month ago (3rd July), I was doing it for me and to lead a good example to my young children. Then 2 weeks in I saw a post from a charity that's very close to my heart. Millies Trust. Not sure if you'll know them but they're a Manchester based charity who provide paediatric

Hello Everyone, This is my first post although I joined a while ago. I live in a small town, and it is so nice and encouraging to know I'm not alone in this, and to have support of others who are experiencing the same issues. I was diagnosed with PBC last September, biopsy showed stage 2-3. Thankful

Evidence for supplements?
I suppose the title of the post says it really! Like everybody else, I spend lots of money on NAC, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Co-enzyme Q10, Resveratrol etc etc. I'm about 2 years in and feel okay but the disease is progressing slowly despite all of my strategies. Therefore, I ask myself, is there any point

I'm new here, just want to pass on some experiences.
I got diagnosed in 2003 after 5 years of severe bladder symptoms. I was taking cimetidine and hydroxyzine, cimetidine for 13 years. Cimetidine affects the absorption of nutrients. I was diagnosed with Low vitamin B12 at this time, later on iron, folate, and vitamin D3. My bladder is so sensitive to

VINEGAR, my new best friend!
A few weeks ago I decided to add unfiltered vinegar to my diet and have been seeing more and more benefits. I've been encouraging people to try it ever since. Dr. Mercola has this article on his website today pointing out more of the scientific facts as to why it works. "Various studies, researchers

After my op I was advised to take my pill for 3 months at a time and have a break, during that time the pain is getting unmanageable

Peripheral neuropathy and burning feet
Saw some comments a few days ago, and wanted to remind everyone to carefully read the literature that comes with all your drugs. For a couple of years, I have had intense burning feet, especially in the evenings, and assumed it just went with the neuropathy. Not so! After studying all my medicine literature

Is bad press for bisphosphonates a danger?
I am reading more and more on this forum how worried and scared members are to take alendronic acid and other drugs to treat osteoporosis and am concerned that many people may miss out on treating their low bone density and increased risk of fracturing their bones. My story is as follows: 2011 aged 53

Hello, my name is Eric and just discovered this site. I am 49, and was diagnosed with PBC in 2013 after a routine blood panel showed elevated AMA. It was never high, so Dr thinks they caught me in very early stages. Only taking Ursodiol since then, but I have not taken it the past 3 months or so; last

Hyaluronic acid level.
Hi, could someone please tell me what a Hyaluronic acid level of 90 means. A blood test for fibrosis came back and I'm a wee bit concerned. Thanks.

Alpha lipoic acid & acetyl l-carnitine both thyroid inhibitors. How much extra NDT to add?
I started taking Alpha lipoic acid (1600mgs per day) and acetyl l-carnitine (5000mg per day) for some reasons not related to thyroid. I will be taking it for 3 months. I am already taking 1 grain of NDT per day. I heard that both ALA and carnitine can lower thyroid hormone and after a couple of days

Levothyroxine and Alendronate
Begging on behalf of my son again as one of the GPs (not a good one) wants to put my son on Alendronate. He has no proof that my son has osteoporosis, but wants to give it to him because of long-term side effects of Hydrocortisone. My son had a Dexa scan about 10 years ago, which was good and I feel
