Awful day
So yesterday was the worst day I’ve had in a long time. I’ve been bleeding almost constantly since February. I’ve been on zoladex and now Prostap for 18 months. No improvement, in fact seems worse on Prostap. I get the letter no one wants, your smear test is due. Oh great can’t do that in my state. But

Taking hours to fall asleep
Gabapentin has controlled my RLS for last year or so. I only take 600 mg at bedtime for last 3/4 months now. I have recently started having difficulty falling asleep (no RLS, just wide awake for 3/4 hours). I thought about asking for a sleep aid from GP but didn't want to take anything that would aggrevate

Risedronate Update
Having had a long break after stopping Alendronic Acid, I started Risedronate on 2nd June 23. For the first few weeks I was fine. No noticeable side effects. (After the terrible time with AA you can appreciate I was overjoyed.) However about 3 weeks ago the same symptoms started creeping back.

Dietary Approaches to Improve Efficacy and Control Side Effects of Levodopa Therapy in Parkinson's Disease: A Systematic Review
I was researching supplement BCAA provided by my husband's functional medicine MD. I was surprised to find one of the ingredients was listed as a major contraindication with levodopa. L-Phenylalanine. Dug a little deeper and it related to protein and impact on levodopa. Found an interesting article

Night sweats etc.
I am tapering down from 30mg pred since April 2022 and I am now down to 3mg (4mg alternate days). I am finding I am having a lot of night sweats. Has anyone found else had this problem and if so how long it lasts for? I have to add that I have recently been diagnosed with osteoporosis, and didn't know

K2 supplement
Having read on this forum that calcium/D3 is best supplemented with K2 to aid absorption, I've been taking it with my (prescribed) iCal D3 chewable tablets for some years. I had breast cancer in 2016 and was prescribed Letrozole, and as I had radiotherapy too, advised to take iCal and Alendronic Acid

haematoma -update
As suggested, I got in touch with my haem who told me to go immediately to the hospital. I didn't see her face- to- face but was seen first by a junior doctor and then had a blood test. She reported back to the haem, sending photos. The outcome was I have a course (3 days) of Tranexamic Acid (2000 mg

Flare? Or has biologic stopped working?
I am on COSENTYX and MTX and had been doing ok. The consultant said I needed to start Alendronic acid as my bone density borderline. Within a few weeks my arthritis symptoms started to flare. I had a depo injection, but little or no effect. I have been taking celecoxib which wasn't doing enough so now

UPDATE: Finally, some progress with the back (only took 3 months). Now Week 6 on the bed.
Ater my 11 trips to ER (in Halifax), I got Dr. Das, who at this point, is my hero. He diagnosed 2 fragility fractures at L1, L2 and disc buldges at L4, L5, S1 from a CT scan of July 6th which no one had read. After calling Rheumatolgy Nursing Line on Monday last, for the first time ever, they returned

Dexa scan results meaning
Hi Everyone I have finally managed to get a copy of the results of the above which I had done early March. I asked for the scan because I was automatically put on Alendronic acid at the same time as Pred although I had no likelyhood of osteoporosis. It wasn’t until I joined this site I realised the

Better taper management
Hello again helpful people. I thought I'd update on my progress managing PMR, which was not going well 3 months ago. I took your advice and visited the dentist, to have a wisdom tooth out and no prospect of Alendronic Acid for at least 3 months, so that was worth it. But after I failed at reducing

Hi all, So i've been under private thyroid care for just over and year and a half. I was on 75mcg a day from about 18 years old to 42 years old, had bloods checked and all 'in range' but I didn't feel good. Tired a lot and sluggish and constipation, cold sensitiveness. After changing to private,

Eating Nuts for Heart Health
If you are interested in eating nuts to improve your health, look up each one to see what vitamins or minerals it will supply and how many you should eat daily. It's important that nuts are 'really well chewed' and if you do that it will not effect pockets that may have formed in the bowel due to

Poop talk: microbiome and prostate cancer, some news
Ok, it's one fascinating subject, especially if we use the word microbiome! Consider that the study was carried out on murine models but also on humans, so there are some interesting findings. In a small small nutshell (but I suggest you to read the whole article, at least the introduction and the conclusions
