I have a lava lamp that I use as a nightlight that helps me fall back asleep. The colors on the wall seem to have a hypnotic effect.

No, I fall asleep to music though. But that cuts off eventually. The lava lamp is more soothing than the television. The television tends to have burst of light. The lava lamp is more like a spa.

I use my alexa type device to play white noise/green noise...sometimes I have the tv on but I try to remember to turn it off.....usually read a little bit.....reading helps my brain calm down so i can sleep....you want to be careful with prescription sleep meds...I am prescribed one but hardly ever take it because my sleep cycle doesn't allow it to get out of my system. It gives me a "hangover" effect. I usually take at least 50mg of melatonin.....and sometimes chase it with benadryl.....just need to make sure that you have time to give the meds to work

It sounds like you are very active in problem-solving right now, and also are showing the most positive attitude possible under duress. I use puzzles also to relax. I started with Crosswords, but now have gone to Logic, "Crostics" or "Anacrostics", Diagramless and Cryptograms. They are very entertaining and I can get very involved with them, forgetting my own problems for a while. I buy Variety Puzzle magazines, which I find in supermarkets and pharmacies. The Logic puzzles depending on who creates and writes them, can contain very humorous, and also imaginative plots. Keep going with the process you have started, and you will find your own "therapy" that fits your own individual personality!
