New treatment - tocilizumab
Hi. I have takayasu's arteritis and am treated at Addenbrooke's. I saw Dr Jayne yesterday and they've come to the conclusion that things are a bit out of control. I'm going to be started on tocilizumab as soon as they have secured funding. Does anyone on here have experience of this treatment for TAK

The effect of antiepileptic drugs on thyroid function in children
Interactions between everything to do with thyroid (hormones, tests, etc.) and medicines has often been discussed here. I remember some specific mentions of the impact of anti-epileptics. This is just another abstract which identifies that there are potentially very significant interactions between anti-epileptics

Research: Gathering ethnicity statistics
To help us support research into ALD and AMN better, we've started to compile statistics on the different ethnicities and demographics of patients and families affected by the ALD gene. Ethnicity and demographic statistics are also fundamental in supporting families requiring a Bone Marrow Transplant

W7R2: For my colleague who died on Wednesday
So my close colleague for 13 years died on Wednesday after a failed stem cell transplant. (We are both doctors) He was planning to be back at work in March after a week in ICU and recovery. In fact he had 3 months in ICU then 2 weeks on a normal ward then his last 3 days ventilated in ICU. What a shitty
