I have Giant Cell Arteritis and am reducing Prednisolone. Does anyone have terrible 'hot flushes' and itchy patches on skin?
Can anyone provide any remedial therapies for the above and if I can get completely off Prednisolone, will the 'hot flushes' stop.

I contacted the Justice Department about Missing GP Notes.
I contacted the Justice department about missing GP notes. They say it's the Department for Health responsibility. Talk about passing the buck. There was a post about the Freedom of Information Act on thyroid UK a few days ago. GP's passing notes on to insurance companies. The NHS refusing to install

Polymyalgia Rheumatica and Giant Cell Arteritis: A Survival Guide. This book is a must for your bookshelf or kindle
Just purchased and read Kate's book ... amazing! It should be on all our bookshelves or at least in our Kindle's at present. Although I'm an atypical PMR sufferer being a very fit and active 51 year old man when I got condition last year I found myself drawn into Kate's book and could not put it down

I am feeling worried about the possibility of having a bone marrow transplant with my sister as donor.
I have read all the hospital pamphlets and a transplant seems like a very difficult process with many long term side effects. One pamphlet said 'you will feel ill for a year after the bone marrow transplant and may never fully regain your health'. Another said it may cause cataracts a couple of years

New research reveals more about Giant Cell Arteritis
New research has been revealed about how Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA) may be caused by a certain group of white blood cells called "neutrophils". GCA (also known as Temporal Arteritis TA ) is a condition which causes inflammation in the blood vessels and primarily affects the elderly. http://www.vasculitis.org.uk

Hi All I know its a long shot but have any of you ever heard of someone having a bone marrow transplant for severe vasculitis. I know there has been for WG and Bechets but it is minimal. I would ideally like to get a personal perspective. Thank you Sarah

As I'm sure you know, this forum is run by volunteers from PMRGCAuk, the UK's national charity for support and awareness of Polymyalgia Rheumatica and Giant Cell Arteritis. What you might not know is that, at the moment, the whole charity is run by volunteers! That's website, forum, helpline, newsletter

New treatment - tocilizumab
Hi. I have takayasu's arteritis and am treated at Addenbrooke's. I saw Dr Jayne yesterday and they've come to the conclusion that things are a bit out of control. I'm going to be started on tocilizumab as soon as they have secured funding. Does anyone on here have experience of this treatment for TAK

The effect of antiepileptic drugs on thyroid function in children
Interactions between everything to do with thyroid (hormones, tests, etc.) and medicines has often been discussed here. I remember some specific mentions of the impact of anti-epileptics. This is just another abstract which identifies that there are potentially very significant interactions between anti-epileptics
