Day 1 after second cataract surgery.
The second eye surgery went well yesterday and the discomfort only lasted one day. My post op visit showed good healing in the original eye and the only problem in the second eye was elevated intraocular pressure for which he gave me an eyedrop. It is nice to have my vision balanced again having spent

Actemra and PMR
Actemra has been a lifesaver for me and my GCA. It has enabled me to dose down the prednisone and still heal the GCA symptoms. However, as I dose down prednisone, the PMR pain is back. So, unless I stay on the strictest diet, PMR keeps me disabled. I’m wondering if the Actemra will eventually kick

First day after cataract surgery
Here it is day one after cataract surgery and I'm thrilled. The discomfort is completely gone and my vision so much improved. It was definitely worth one day's discomfort. Next week I get the other eye done with much less apprehension. Thank you for all the support. Will keep you informed.

Confused
Is there another type of measurement for liver stiffness instead of kPa. My gastroenterologist rang me this evening and said that the result from my fibroscan on Monday showed I was Fibrosis stage 2. I asked him what the kPa reading was, he said he didn't have the kPa but it is 2.1 stiffness then another

Cataract surgery tomorrow
As I sit here I'm putting in eye drops in preparation for cataract surgery tomorrow. Though not thrilled to have any surgery, I'm looking forward to clearer vision. Wish me luck.

Change Health Care to get Actemra?
I have been a patient at Kaiser for 28 years. I have had no complaints to speak of. Easy access to treatment. Easy communication with my doctors. Not necessarily state of the art,I but evidence based approached to treatment. I have had botox for neck problems that have been wonderful. I get reimbursed

NASH and progression
Using a biopsy I was diagnosed with this Fatty Liver problem in 2002 or thereabouts. My GGTs are regularly between 1000 and 2000 and other enzymes are also raised but not as dramatically. I do not drink any alcohol and have never done so. When my LFTs are checked regularly I keep being told....

Ace inhibitors and Hydroxy
Does anyone have experience of using ACE inhibitors alongside hydroxycarbamide and low dose aspirin? I have been taking Amlodipine to control blood pressure but it is losing its effectiveness and even doubling the dose doesn't stop the increase. I have been told that ACE inhibitors may be a better solution

Nebuliser
Hi I have mixed airways disease, but also severely restricted lung function due to curvature of spine. I'm on atrovent, flixotide and venolin. Use via a spacer. It has been suggested by Brompton that it may help to get my inhalers (not Flixotide) into my lungs more efficiently if I use a nebulisor.

Roundabouts again
The heart catheterisation was early, and I thought good, I will be recovered before the cataract surgery. So today I get a call from the Ophthalmology department at the Royal Gwent to say that the surgeon is not happy about the short time between procedures so the cataract surgery has been postponed

Cataract surgery and warfarin
Hi, Has anyone had cataract surgery whilst being permanently on warfarin. Did you have to come off warfarin before hand? Any special points to discuss with surgeon? I've had to come off warfarin twice before, once for a CT Scan and once for knee replacement surgery. No sweat. Not sure about eyes though

Hi I’m due to have this soon and getting rather anxious as I’ve only been using artificial tears and no other prep. There had been an admin mix up prior to my consultant appts whereby she claimed she had no evidence from my gp. This resulted in 2 appointments but on the second visit she rechecked my
