Treatment for ulcers

Hi I had rituximab which has not worked unfortunately. My consultant is suggesting I try aavaa which is a combination of asprin, antibiotics, flolan and someother stuff! As anyone tried this?

I have tried every dressing imaginable. Using iodoflex at the moment. Keeps ulcers clean anyhow.

Hiya where are your ulcers ? I've suffered chronic lower leg ulcers for years and have had 4 skin grafts the most recent November. I learnt from the specialist there are a couple of specific conditions linked to Lipus that cause leg ulcers are you being treated by your GP if so medi honey dressings are really good

Hi

my ulcers are on my ankles. I have tried honey dressings which helped for a few months But stopped working. The pain was extremely bad when putting on these dressings. I'm using iodoflex at the mo which is not that bad. Doea the skin graft work?

I agree the pain from the honey for the first day is pretty horrendous but it does abate.. Are you in compression ? How long have you had ulcer....It took almost 10 years for me to get a referral 1st graft was a desaster but then got referred to East Grinstead QE2 hospital which is where they treated WW2 burns victims.. Not sure where you are in the country but if you're South East I couldnt recommend them highly enough.. My ulcer stayed healed for 3 years then I noticed. Small black mark so went GP who thought it could be the dreaded C !! Anyway cutting long story short had 2 biopsies which left the ulcer and another 14 months of pain had graft in Nov 5 weeks off work and all healex :-) there are also skin conditions linked to Lupus that cause ulcers thankfully I didn't have these either happy to email you some before and after pics of you PM your email...

Hi Debbie may

I'm glad they are better. I have tried every dressing you can think of. I have used compression but to painful. It's the pain that annoys me more than ever.

I have had these ulcers now for 4 To 5 years. 1 on the left foot and 3 on the right.

I have had sle for 25 years. Apart from these ulcers I'm very well! I will pm email address

Are the ulcers infected?

I have recently had badly infected finger ulcers. Immuno suppressive drugs and poor circulation make healing more difficult.

I was told that staplycocous is often involved and was given fluxocillan to treat the infection. But google also informed me that bicarb of soda and apple cider vinegar can kill staph.

I made a solution of the two and applied to my ulcer and the next day it was not ooozing in the same way and the pain of theinfection was lessened.

The pain is worse when infected. I take antibiotics when it is which does help

I'm sorry to hear about unsuccessful trial of Rituximab. Call me ignorant but may I ask what "aavaa" stands for? I've never even heard of it. Many thanks,
