Saw rheumatologist on Wednesday. She recommended a mouthwash for ulcers and for the life of me I can't remember the name of it, can anyone help?
Plus she told me I have APS, I wasn't expecting that news, but keeping myself smiling

I use Difflam, prescribed by the dental hospital, its very good
Corsodyl mouthwash
Am sorry about the APS...but, hey, it's really good your medics are clarifying your diagnostic mix...makes designing the right treatment plan so much more feasible...
My periodontist has me on gengigel....at 63, after a lifetime managing dreadful oral inflammation, mouth ulcers, erosive lesions and gum recession, gengigel mouthwash & gel are THE GRRRREATEST for me....and I've tried virtually everything OTC & prescription over the years 😉. I do rely on applying prescription topical oral steroid too though, during the most severe inflammation/ulceration. My oral signs & symptoms are due to infant onset lupus + early onset Sjogrens + vascular Ehlers Danlos syndrome + hypogammaglobulinaemia.
When you find out what your rheumy receommended, I hope you'll let us know

It was something like chloroxadyl or chlohexadine. Probably wrong and spelt wrong lol
🤗 well, that's good for starters...let's see if someone can figure this out...
chlorhexidine mouthwash This is correct, I work for a dentist and that's what we give
I bought some today
Do I only use it when I Jane mouth ulcers
It depends, if you normally have gum problems then continue but if not then only use when you have ulcers. Brush often, it can stain your teeth.
Also, I use magic mouthwash. It really helps to numb the ulcers and allows me to eat food. It has to be mixed by a pharmacy. I can get you the ingredients if you like.
Chlorhexidine is the generic name and Corsodyl is the brand name. I use it and sometimes it is very effective but if I'm in a bad flare it sometimes is less good. Hope this helps!
Oooo thankyou
👍👍👍👍 I thought the generic name was familiar!
Just to add to the discussion generally: I was on corsodyl for several years before my periodontist changed me to gengigel...corsodyl never helped me as much a grngigel consistently is helping. My dental hygienist says that Q10 is one of the main active ingredients in gengigel
I saw a consultant in oral medicine and she prescribed me Difflam. Told me to stop using Corsodyl as it has an ingredients that discolours teeth.
Hmm I'll see my gp as don't fancy teeth going funny
I was using Corsodyl before my oral medicine appointment and it did work. It was my oral medicine consultant that told me to stop using it as it was discolouring my teeth. 2-3 weeks after switching to Difflam I noticed my teeth were whiter.
i use corsodyl it keeps inflamation down
I am in US, my doctors have mevon magic mouthwash. I can get the ingredients if interested.
Re APS diagnosis, the following websites are good for information.

Thankyou
Rach5 I think you will find that the Betadine Mouth Wash is probably the best one on the market.
Hope this helps.
